News breaking yesterday afternoon indicates that
anti-aircraft missiles and other advanced weapons have been making their way
into the hands of Syrian rebels from Libyan stockpiles provided by the United
States. The Obama Administration has been
publicly maintaining a “hands-off” policy toward the Syrian civil war. Northern Syria has a multitude of anti-tank
and anti-aircraft weapons provided by Libya.
COMMENTS:
Obama’s handling of Middle Eastern events has been less than
outstanding. Right now, the Middle East
consists of several tinder-boxes ready to erupt, and Obama seems content to
think that his “bows” and Nobel Peace Prize will be sufficient to resolve the
issues. If we think we can successfully continue
down this path of diplomacy, history shows we are in for a rude awakening.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. There’s voter fraud already in Florida? (Maria ~ Lacey, WA)
A. Yes and no.
Investigators have uncovered the fact that many people who voted in
Florida also voted in other states.
However, that took place in prior elections. Maybe the Gore/Bush standoff wasn’t really
all that close after all.
Q. What I can’t figure out is why Ambassador Stevens was
such a target in Libya. Initial news
reports were that he was highly regarded there.
(Todd ~ Morgan City, LA)
A. Stevens was evidently instrumental in funneling U.S. weapons
to Libyan rebels who were trying to oust Ghaddafi. There’s really a whole lot
of intrigue in this story; I keep saying the cover-up is just the tip of the
iceberg. It could be a very cold winter
in the White House.
Q. We haven’t received any real reports as to what happened
with the bank rescue money or the American Recovery Act stimulus money. Can you fill us in? (Sagan ~ Newport, OR)
A. According to the Congressional Budget Office, we lost $24
billion in the bank bailouts. As far as
ARA money goes, Obama already admitted that there weren’t many “shovel ready”
projects and we all know the stories about Solyndra and other similar schemes. These two “guaranteed winners” from Obama
appear to have turned out to be bottomless pits of failure. But, a lot of his cronies got rich in the process.
