Nineteen out of twenty Federal agencies ignore the Freedom
of Information Act that requires public disclosure of internal information upon
request. “When it comes to
implementation of Obama’s wonderful transparency policy goals, especially FOIA
policy in particular, there has been far more ‘talk the talk’ rather than ‘walk
the walk,’” said Daniel Metcalfe, former director of the Department of Justice’s
office monitoring the government’s compliance with FOIA requests.”

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. There’s been another “insider” attack on troops in
Afghanistan. When are we going to get
out of there? (Charlotte ~ Folsom, CA)
A. By the end of 2014, although the word is that Obama is
considering pulling out immediately.
What is totally wrong here is that we went into Afghanistan to purge Al
Qaeda strongholds and training grounds and ensure peace here at home; the
minute we leave, the Taliban and Al Qaeda will fill the vacuum and we’ll be
back to square one. Those military
personnel who gave their lives in the effort will soon be forgotten. Once again, we’ll be turning tail, running
and de facto losing the war. Where’s
Barry Goldwater when you need him?
Q. Do you think Obama will ever tackle Iran’s nuclear
program? (Anton ~ Medford, OR)
A. Not unless his back is to the wall. If he senses he may be losing the election,
you can expect a U.S. strike against Iran within the next month, before the election,
in order to save his hide. Otherwise, he
will not do anything proactive. If you
look at the history of his Presidency, he’s always been reactive, although I
think he’s also radioactive.
Q. Are you concerned about the higher-than-expected melting
of the Arctic icecap? (Maureen ~ Los
Alamos, NM)
A. Are you related to Al Gore? As climatologists have been worried about the
effects of global warming, Antarctica has quietly set a new record for the greatest sea ice extent ever measured at
either pole. Why is the Arctic Circle
losing ice when the Antarctic is gaining?
My unscientific guess is that the bulk of the world’s hot air emanates
from Washington, D.C. which is north of the equator.
TODAY’S QUOTE:
“Believe it or not, very little research
has ever been funded to search for natural mechanisms of warming... it has
simply been assumed that global warming is manmade. Climate change - it
happens, with or without our help.” ~ Roy Spencer
