COMMENTS:
Our Constitution provides that any powers not specifically
enumerated as being given to the Federal Government belong to the States. Nowhere in the Constitution is there any
language about allowing any segment of the Federal Government to define what
constitutes a legal marriage. Therefore,
each State prima facie has the right to determine its own marriage laws. California has twice voted overwhelmingly against
gay marriage. Massachusetts has voted
otherwise and I likewise defend their right to do so. Obama can go suck a lemon.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. After 50 years as a registered Republican, I am so sick
and tired of the party hierarchy and the cavalier attitude toward its members
that I really want out, but I don’t know where to go. Any suggestions? (Blaine ~ Spokane, WA)
A. I’m getting quite a few of these requests lately. I’ll give you two choices: The American
Conservative Party and the Libertarian Party.
I would check out their platforms on line and select the one that best
suits your views. You may even be able
to change your State registration in the comfort of your own home. I changed mine after the November
elections.
Q. What do you think of the Pope’s resignation and what kind
of Cardinal do you think will replace him?
(Ann Marie ~ Chehalis, WA)
A. I think he sees himself as being too old and feeble to contend with the
demands of being Pope; I even think he may have a serious malady. As for his replacement, look for a younger
Cardinal with a more liberal interpretation of God and the Ten Commandments,
which I think will be a dire mistake.
Q. What do you make of Afghanistan’s Karzai chasing U.S.
troops out of Wardak Province? (Daryl ~
Fort Belvoir, VA)
A. Karzai and his illustrious family have never been close
allies of the U.S. They would just as
soon see us leave so they can get back to their corrupt, self-serving
ways. The Taliban is happy to see this
rift and Obama lacks the ability to effectively deal with it. Look for the Taliban and Al Qaeda to be back in
full training operations in Afghanistan by the end of 2013, just in time to
knock down the new World Trade Center.
