COMMENTS:
Yes, Harry recognized that provision was going nowhere. I do not have a real concern with background checks IF
anyone declined gun ownership has a judicial right to appeal. The other two provisions in the Bill are
simply window dressing; if we would enforce laws on the books right now, those
issues would be resolved.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Your intuition is so great. Just Monday, you responded to a reader that
the attempt by Syrian rebels to set up a provisional government could cause Assad
to start using chemical weapons, and just two days later, yesterday, the use of
chemical weapons started in that war.
Obama had said that would cause us to react; what do you expect him to
do? (Irma ~ Ukiah, CA)
A. I expect Obama to make a lot of noise and sound stern,
mean and angry, and then to get on Air Force One and fly someplace; do they
have any golf courses in Israel? Do not expect any type of military response
on our part.
Q. What is your opinion on Detroit going bankrupt? (Jess ~ Ferndale, MI)
A. Unless they get their heads straight, Californians will
be in the filing line right behind Detroit.
What’s the problem in Detroit?
High taxes, high wages and a mass exodus of employers and employees leaving the city mired in debt with no sources of revenue. In California, everyone is fleeing to Arizona,
Nevada or Oregon and the state is responding by raising taxes even more. Soon, Hollywood will be a true, real life
ghost town.
Q. Yesterday, there were deaths at the Hawthorne weapons
facility in Nevada. Harry Reid blamed
the disaster on the lack of funds and Sequester. Is he right?
(Gordon ~ Willard, UT)
A. I think the story, initiated on “PATRIOT UPDATE,” is
misstated and blown out of proportion. I
don’t really like Harry Reid or his politics, but I haven’t seen any evidence
that he said or meant that Sequester cuts caused the Hawthorne disaster. I do know that the facility has an excellent
safety record, provides a lot of jobs in Nevada and that Reid has supported the
base in the past. He’s done a lot of
dirty deeds, but I can’t imagine that he would use the disaster in this political
way unless he’s finally taken total leave of his senses.
