The United States budget deficit has Congress in a stalemate while billions of American dollars are going overseas not for war, not to help poor and starving nations, but in the form of grant money to “assist in the development of geothermal energy in Grenada” and countless of other similar projects.
COMMENTS:
The problem I have with this is that we are subsidizing other nations who are having energy problems when we have not even begun to resolve our own and while there is active discussion in Congress about slashing the amount of money being allocated for energy research in this country and for tax incentives associated with development. And, this is just one small segment of the money that is being spent overseas that I am talking about. It’s not just DOE; virtually every department is sending money out of the country to subsidize projects and resolve problems that we have not adequately addressed domestically. So your unemployed and can’t feed your family? Let’s send $1 billion to Brazil to help them address their unemployment problem. I have recently come to the conclusion that Congress is filled with assholes, idiots and some of both varieties. Weiner’s lucky he got out when he did, pardon any play on words.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Although I am a conservative Republican, I have to agree that it is patently unfair that tax loopholes allow many rich to escape with low or no taxes and that, in principle; they should pay about 2% more. I don’t want them to run scared but, what’s fair is fair. (Maggie ~ Redding, CA)
A. The whole tax thing is unfair. There is little real equity in it. Herman Cain and others support a national sales tax and elimination of the current tax structure and IRS, but I think that unfairly focuses on the poor. Here's a fact: If you eliminate the subsidy to oil companies, do you really think the oil companies are just going to pay it, or will they jack up the prices of gas to cover it? Who really pays? I do like a Fair Tax proposal. Every time you go to a fair, you get taxed.
Q. I hear that Verizon is ending its unlimited data plan for Smart Phones. Isn’t the whole thing just a gimmick to get more money out of you? (Jess ~ Las Vegas, NV)
A. As if a guy from a gambling town should be talking about getting more money out of people? Anyway, yes it is a gimmick. The program has been done successfully for decades. Back around the advent of ATMs, for example, those transactions were free. Now, billions of dollars are made every year off of ATM transactions. The only thing they haven’t found a way to charge you for is air. The air is free, but they’re working on that problem; just try and get some free air for your tires so you can save the nation’s energy costs, like Barry says.
Q. According to Minuteman PAC, “Doug Vogt, an international expert on scanners and document imaging software, recently filed a 22-page criminal complaint charging that the long-form birth certificate released by the White House is a created forgery that was ‘put together using the Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator programs.’” Why haven’t we heard more about that? (Bill ~ Cody, WY)
A. Because Donald Trump hasn’t been out there wagging his tongue over it. The even bigger question is why did Trump drop out when the “certificate” was issued, and why hasn’t FOX followed up on it? Why did Glenn Beck really leave FOX; did George Soros get to FOX? Why did the cow jump over the moon; was it really to get a bottle of energy booster?
