MORE ASSAULTS ON OUR INSTITUTIONS

The City Council in Eugene, Oregon has ruled that the Pledge will no longer be recited at its meetings except on special occasions.  NBC saw fit to air the Pledge without the words “under God” on the Memorial Day weekend.  On June 27, 2002, a Federal Appeals Court ruled the Pledge as being unconstitutional because it contains the words “one nation under God.”  The 9th Circuit Court has ruled the Pledge cannot be recited in schools because of the doctrine of separation of church and state.

COMMENTS:
The time is here, my friends, for us as Americans to take our country back not only from a runaway and non responsive government, but also from those who seek to destroy our country by trashing its values, its history and its very foundations.  Let’s make that our pledge for this Fourth of July.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  Now that the trial is essentially over, do you believe Casey Anthony is guilty?  (Sanchez ~ Pismo Beach, CA)
A.  Just as guilty as O.J. Simpson.

Q.  Will Glenn Beck just fade off into the sunset?  (Thelma ~ Walnut Creek, CA)
A.  Way back before you were born, probably, a very successful and popular weather man by the name of John Coleman left ABC to venture out on his own. The result is The Weather Channel.  Glenn Beck is starting his own network on the Internet, GBTV.  I wish him well and hope he continues to use my material.

Q.  Former Senator Alan Simpson said yesterday that we cannot continue with our Federal debt load and that if Congress doesn’t resolve the issue, bond markets may react negatively.  Isn’t this more bad news for the economy?  (Quint ~ Monarch Beach, CA)
A.  I don’t know what is worse news for the nation’s markets, that our debt load s unsustainable or that Geithner is not going to resign.

TODAY’S QUOTE:
"'The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for the payments of pension and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion' -- this is the important thing -- 'shall not be questioned.  So as a negotiating strategy you say: 'If you don't do things my way, I'm going to force the United States to default--not pay the legacy of bills accumulated by my predecessors in Congress.' It's not a credible negotiating strategy, and it's not going to happen." ~ Timothy Geithner
