President Obama has openly threatened to cut off Social Security checks and Medicare payments if the debt ceiling is not increased by August 2nd.
COMMENTS:
I am a Social Security and Medicare recipient. You don’t have the fortitude to stay in
Washington and do your job anyway, and you certainly don’t have best interests
of America at heart, or this would all be a done deal by now. So, go
ahead and do your cuts, Mr. President; make my day. I double-dare you.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What do you make of Pelosi’s stance of “no cuts to Social
Security or Medicare, period?” ~ Rodger, Anaheim, CA)
A. I never thought I would say this, but I agree with
her. Cuts,
no; change, yes. These programs need
to be modified to ensure their sustainability, and that’s something Congress
should tackle as soon as the deficit and debt are taken care of. I believe the Republicans agree with that, so
she’s trying to make an issue out of a non-issue to deflect the argument about
the deficit and debt. But, we’ll have to
pass the legislation first, so we can find out what’s in it.
Q. What do you think about Obama’s plans to do an end-run
around Congress to enact gun control laws from the standpoint of Executive
Order whether they like it or not? (Milo
~ Salinas, CA)
A. That just might be the icing on the cake that will get
him impeached. So, go ahead and ignore the Constitution, Mr. President; do your gun
control and make my day.
Q. What’s going on lately at the Mexican border? (Clarice ~ Vancouver,
WA)
A. Although the news has been sparse, the violence has
not. Seven or eight drug gangs are vying
for control within Mexico and there is significant danger that the Mexican
government itself could be toppled, thereby sending 15 million to 20 million Mexicans
across our borders trying to escape the ensuing violence. Due to our national economy, it could be said
that the “nice” illegals are not crossing as much, but the bad guys are coming
more often. In fact, the bad guys are
literally… this is not stretch of the imagination… literally invading and
taking over vast stretches of U.S. lands along the border. Our country is in danger, and neither Obama
nor Napolitano want to deal with the issue.
TODAY’S QUOTE:
“But last year there were 540,000 people,
roughly, detained coming across the border illegally. Forty-five thousand of
them came from countries other than Mexico, demonstrating the fact that Mexico
itself now is a pathway into the United States for people all around the world,
and we don't know what their intentions are.” ~ John
Cornyn
