TSA: THE GESTAPO MENTALITY

According to THE SIDESHOW, a blog, Vanessa Gibbs was detained by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on a flight from Virginia to Florida due to the appearance of her purse.  "It's my style, it's camouflage, it has an old western gun on it," Gibbs told News4Jax.com. Gibbs didn't run into any trouble while traveling north from Jacksonville International Airport. But on her way back home, TSA officials at Norfolk International Airport pulled her aside.  After TSA agents determined the gun was a fake, Gibbs related that they told her to check the bag or turn it over.  By the time security wrapped up the inspection, the pregnant teen missed her flight, and Southwest Airlines sent her to Orlando instead. Less terrifying is the actual design on the purse, which is only a few inches in size and hollow. "I carried this from Jacksonville to Norfolk, and I've carried it from Norfolk to Jacksonville," Gibbs said. "Never once has anyone said anything about it until now."

COMMENTS:
We’ve heard similar stories before.  Once is bad enough, but the multiple stories adds up to a police mentality reminiscent of Gestapo tactics.  Even more puzzling is the decision to exempt military personnel on travel from the security checks, as if a terrorist wouldn’t show up in military garb with a bomb tucked in his knapsack.  The whole TSA thing, body x-rays and all, needs to be re-examined, preferably by someone who hasn’t just been released from a loony bin or the White House Czar den.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. How do you feel about Herman Cain suspending his candidacy?  (Bernice ~ Red Bluff, CA)
A. I’m sad to see him go.  Realistically, however, his campaign was doomed.  I very much hope that he is able to exonerate himself at the expense of those who conspired against him.

Q. I understand they are investigating Jessie Jackson Jr.  What’s the skinny?  (Cal ~ Elko, NV)
A. While undergoing investigation and during trial, Rod Blagojevich alleged that Jackson had tried to buy Obama’s vacant Senate seat.  They are investigating that matter as well as several other charges against Jackson including infidelity.  Like father, like son.

Q. Do you think the Tea Parties will play a major role in the 2012 elections?  (Larry ~ Forks, WA)
A. Yes.  Their popularity has decreased with the constant onslaught by the Left, but I think you will see a resurgence early next year.  And, their ideals and goals are in harmony with what has to be done to save the country.  Send a tea bag to your favorite Congressman for Christmas.
