IRAN EMBASSY CLOSURE OVERDUE

The storming of the British Embassy by Iranian students was indeed reminiscent of a similar event involving the U.S. Embassy under Jimmy Carter’s administration.  That led to a very lengthy holding of hostages and a failed attempt to free the hostages by Carter.  They were eventually released as Ronald Regan took office.

COMMENTS:
In this case, thankfully, there are no hostages.  But every Western aligned government with embassies in Iran would be well-advised to get out now.  The Brits have been hanging on because of their ability to get some communication with the Iranian government.  However, if the Israelis take out Iran’s nuclear sites, no Western government is going to be safe behind embassy walls.  The Iranians are not talking much, and when they do it is to stall and lie.  Embassies therefore serve no useful purpose anyway.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. You always belittle the Republicans for not standing strong for their principles.  Don’t you believe in compromise?  Compromise is the only way Congress can get things done, you know.  (Benjamin ~ Fallon, NV)
A. Compromise is a two way street.  The Republicans have been the only party in Washington to compromise anything in 20 years.  Unfortunately, they’ve gotten so used to it that the Democrats have been running roughshod over Congress even when the Republicans were in charge.  Enough is enough.  If the Democrats are unwilling to bend, then the Republicans shouldn't either.

Q. According to the polls, Newt Gingrich can now beat Obama and Obama is lower in the ratings than any previous President.  Do you think Obama will get the message?  (Cherie ~ Shingletown, CA)
A. If Obama was in a room of 1,000 people, and 999 disagreed with him about something, he would think they were all ignorant peasants unworthy of his presence and he would walk out of the room and go do what he wanted.

Q. How are we going to deal effectively with the “Occupy” groups?  (Zack ~ Napa, CA)
A. Those who are peaceful and have sincere beliefs and stands should go form another group.  As for the rest, we should round them all up, throw them into jail and toss the key into the White House swimming pool; Obama loves them so much, he should be made to deal with them.
