The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear the case involving
Arizona’s new immigration law that was patterned after U.S. law that Obama has
directed ICE not to enforce.
COMMENTS:
As you know, they have also agreed to hear the case
involving the constitutionality of the ObamaCare package. These two cases will define law for decades
to come and will also determine the historical review of this Court. Both cases are meaty, politically sensitive,
and charged with emotion. There has been
some side demand for televised hearings, but televised hearings turned our
Congress into a circus sideshow. As much
as I would like to see the inside of the Courthouse and see how they decide
these things, I vote on the side of decorum and dignity which the Court should
certainly exemplify.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I read something yesterday about the Tax Policy Center
saying the Gingrich tax plan would cost the country billions of dollars and
reduce taxes on the rich. What’s your
opinion? (Milo ~ Tacoma, WA)
A. The TPC is backed by the Brookings Institution and the
Urban Institute. Although widely quoted,
the Brookings Institution is left-leaning, described as being central-left-liberal. The Urban Institute is the parent of the TPC
and was founded by President Lyndon B. Johnson.
It is certainly left. Since Obama
and the Democrats are trying to sink Gingrich, Romney and the Republicans in
general, I think their “study” is as worthless as the kilobytes it was written
in. I would be willing to take a look at
an opinion by the Congressional Budget Office, however.
Q. Already, they’re saying the new “deal” of European
nations to resolve their economic issues is faltering. What’s going on? (Jen ~ Sacramento, CA)
A. Britain refused to
back the new deal and forced it to be solved outside of the European
Union. The new collaborative, the “European
Zone,” has not resolved legal issues or prepared some backstop for their
currency. They keep saying everything
will be resolved by March, but I’d be willing to bet it won’t happen. It is further obvious that this Congress will
not address OUR economic and budgetary problems before they drift off into the
sunset, either.
Q. MF Global executives and John Corzine are all testifying
they don’t know what happened to about $1 billion in investor funds. How can that be, that much money just “disappearing?”
(Jan ~ Ash Fork, AZ)
A. They’re obviously in training to run for Congress. Personally, I wonder how much of that money
will end up in Obama’s campaign fund.
