THIEVES GET SICK, MAY DIE

Thanks for bearing with me.  This damned bug has been on my case for almost three months.  Just as you’re feeling better, you let your guard down and push it a little and it’s back to coughing, hacking and bad fatigue.

Those enterprising Mexicans who stole a truck full of radioactive material down in Mexico are in deep trouble.  The material was recovered Thursday and by Friday several guys showed up at the local hospital feeling very sick.  They have radiation poisoning and are likely to die.

COMMENTS:

What goes around comes around?  What is not known as I write this is whether or not the theft was just to get the truck, or if they were deliberately after the radioactive material, possibly for the purpose of making a dirty nuclear bomb; I’m not certain how easy that would be to do unless you had the know-how, the tools, and someplace to do the work in.  The fact that they opened the container leads me to believe they didn’t know what they were doing.  That’s what the radiation sign is for, to tell you to leave the contents alone.  It is rumored that the contents of the Lost Ark of the Covenant are also highly radioactive, in case you ever run across it.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:

Q. My 24-year-old son has just finished a four year tour with the Air Force and while in service finished his college degree.  He’s very upset with the way the military is changing, with his inability to find a meaningful job, with President Obama and with the way the country is going in general.   How can I possibly argue with him?  (Jarvis ~ Venice, CA)
A. You can’t argue with him, because he’s correct.  However, he does need to channel his frustrations into something positive, such as registering to vote and getting ready to vote out all Democrats who voted for ObamaCare as well as Republicans who’ve been in office for more than six years; it’s in those general demographics where our national problems exist.  Plus, maybe if we get control of the Senate, maybe we can be successful in wrestling back control of our government from the far-left progressives and establishing some sanity in our country.

Q. I consider myself to be a religious person; I believe in God and am active in my church.  I see every day where the left is trying to destroy religion in our country and our government turns a blind eye to it.  Is there any way we can change this?  (Monique ~ Pueblo, CO)
A. Tell it to your preacher.  Until we get organized religions to stand up for themselves, we can’t change things.

Q. How do you react to the fast food workers complaints about their low wages?  (Tess ~ Granada Hills, CA)
A. If you’re not happy with the wages or benefits you get from a job, go get another job.  Let the labor market be free; if the business owner can’t find people to hire at the wages he’s paying, he’ll raise his wages and provide more benefits, get a robot, or close down.  It’s all that simple.  Another word of advice: the worst time to ask for a raise is when there are tons of people out there who would love to have your job, regardless of the low wage.  Do you want ketchup with that?
