A recent poll by NBC News and the Wall Street Journal shows
that Herman Cain is now the leader among Republicans vying for their party’s
Presidential nomination. Several polls
have Cain leading and several polls are now suggesting that Cain would beat Obama.
COMMENTS:
The Tea Parties are lining up squarely behind Cain. They like his freshness, the fact that he has
no political baggage or obligations, and his 9-9-9 plan. Barring any unforeseen blunders, I think Cain
may end up with the brass ring. However, he will need to be teamed up with someone with legislative savvy.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Who do you think should drop out of the Republican
Presidential race? (Marlin ~ Redding,
CA)
A. Everyone except Romney, Cain, Gingrich and either Bachmann
or Perry.
Q. What progress is the “Super Committee” making on the
economy and budget in Congress? (Benjamin ~ Elk Grove Village, CA)
A. Both Republicans and Democrats have submitted their
recommendations to the Committee and made it painfully obvious that there are
deep divisions between the two parties.
They are currently working on what to do about corporate taxes;
Republicans are showing signs of being willing to compromise on some issues,
which could be a positive sign. Nevertheless, they have a huge mountain to
climb by Thanksgiving.
Q. What kind of sanctions do you suppose the U.S. may impose
against Iran? (Amy ~ Redding, CA)
A. They will not be invited to the White House for a beer in
the Rose Garden. Whatever sanctions they
come up with, they will be totally meaningless unless the United Nations backs
them. The whole world is hoping and
praying that we will use this as an excuse to go and bomb their nuclear plants and
we’re talking about sanctions which the U.N. will never back because China and
Russia will turn them down.
