Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, is asking the Administration for more troops, stating that we cannot win the war unless they can build strength to meet increased Taliban presence. President Obama, focused and determined in winning his Government-Run Health Plan, has responded with a weak statement to the effect that he needs to study the situation further.
COMMENTS:
Here’s my issue. We have literally tied the hands of our troops who are there. We have done everything possible to put them in harms way by not allowing them to use bombs, by making them read Miranda Rights before they take in a prisoner, and by investigating them if they shoot an enemy combatant. Given a choice, I’d rather not send more troops in; I’d prefer to let the guys who are already there to be allowed to do whatever it takes to win the war. War is ugly, and it cannot be won by politicians.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Given the cavalier attitude that Congress and the President have had, calling the people names and refusing to listen to what they have to say, why don’t they understand that the are going to get tossed out on their ears in November of 2010? (Krissie – San Angelo, TX)
A. That’s a very legitimate question. They seem to operating with no fear, as if they know that they will not, in fact, get tossed out. Are they planning on getting us into a foreign war, or will we already be at war internally when that time comes? Will ACORN be back in the picture, stuffing ballot boxes and intimidating voters?
Q. I picked up a newsletter from the California Rifle and Pistol Association, and one of writers was commenting on the fact that we can’t find ammunition anywhere, even .22 ammo that you can’t really shoot someone with and expect results. (Carlton – Alpine, CA)
A. That is becoming more and more the case all across the country. We’re 10 months down the road since Obama got elected and there was a run on guns and ammo, and the manufacturers should have been able to gear up and replenish the supplies by now. It makes you wonder what is happening to it.
Q. Obama never stays long enough at the White House to get any work done. Now, he’s heading to Copenhagen to try and win the Olympics for Chicago. Why? (Chuck - Kansas City, KS)
A. Maybe he sees an opportunity to finally get his face in front of the T.V. cameras? Maybe it's because he hasn't apologized for America to Denmark? Maybe it's because he figures that, a the messiah, he can demand that the Olympics come here and, after they kiss his feet, the Olympic Committee will shudder in fear and let him have his way? Take your pick.....
