SUPREME COURT BARS SEX CASE

The Supreme Court has ruled that the class of “women” cannot bring a wage and benefits discrimination suit against Wal-Mart.  The Court ruled that the lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores Inc. could not proceed as a class action in its current form.  By a 5-4 vote along ideological lines, the court said there were too many women in too many jobs at Wal-Mart to wrap into one lawsuit.

COMMENTS:
Shucks.  When I saw the headline, I thought it was going to be another Anthony Weiner or Arnie Schwarzenegger type story. Maybe this goes to show that when you have too many women working, it’s to their legal disadvantage?  Or, is it when they are working too many jobs?  Actually, I was worried, because if they had won, every wife in the country would be suing every husband.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  I’ve really been disappointed in some of the things McCain has said in recent days.  Is he a closet liberal?  (Olalla ~ Sacramento, CA)
A.  He’s always been on the far left side of the Republican Party, commonly referred to as “moderate.”  Don’t get me wrong; I am not a staunch conservative by any means, but he was way too far liberal in his overall thinking for me and that’s why I was angry when he ended up as the Republican candidate.  He would have made Obama a far better running mate than Joe Biden.

Q.  I heard that ACORN lost its case in the Supreme Court, but don’t know the details.  (Fess ~ Aptos, CA)
A.  ACORN sued the U.S. Government saying that Congress had no right to strip its Federal funding after the civil and criminal charges against it arose in early 2009.  ACORN lawyers argued that Congress had never before passed legislation banning a specific group from receiving money and that, therefore, doing so violated the Constitution.  The Court refused to hear the appeal.  ACORN, of course, has filed bankruptcy and morphed into dozens of different “community action” groups under different names.

Q. Who are you going to vote for in the Presidential primaries?  (Seth ~ Burney, CA)
A. Good God, man.  They all haven’t even finished announcing who is running for President yet.  And, all of the dirty linen is still in the laundry room, hasn’t been hung up on the line yet.  I won’t even consider endorsing somebody until next year, unless Charlie Sheen runs.
