NEW PHONE SCAM PLAGUES AMERICA

The phone rings.  It’s from an unfamiliar number. You don’t answer it.  They don’t leave a message.  They call again in about 15 to 20 minutes, this time from another unfamiliar number.  Again, again, again they call, all from different numbers.  If you answer, some guy with a far Middle Eastern accent answers and says something unintelligible and hangs up.  The calls are endless and the cell phone carrier or landline companies both refuse to do anything about it.  If you try to find out the source of these calls by looking at reverse directories, you discover the numbers are officially non-existent.  But, in that process, you run across websites that offer to stop these annoying calls… for a fee.

COMMENTS:
These calls are all generated by a robot dialer.  If you change your number, the problem will return.  They expect you to yell and scream at them… that’s why they hang up.  We need to get our Congressmen involved and force the telephone companies to deal with this issue.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  I see that AARP is refusing to oppose cuts to Social Security.  What gives?  (Maxine ~ Tempe, AZ)
A.  AARP got behind Obama Care and as a result got a huge windfall income to its insurance subsidiaries as a payback from the Democrats.  If Social Security benefits get cut, they can sell more retirement packages.  Aren’t you glad you belong? There are alternatives, you know.

Q.  How can the EPA be mandating strict reductions of mercury from power plant emissions when it requires us to buy these new damned light bulbs that are loaded with mercury?  (Clyde ~ Redding, CA)
A.  Because they are the EPA and they don’t report to anyone… not you, not Congress… except Obama’s environmental czar.  Maybe that’s too glib:  The reason they can do these things is because we let them.

Q.  Why did the United States drop all charges against Osama bin Laden?  (Chuck ~ Redding, CA)
A.  They don’t believe in reincarnation.
