OBAMA’S ARROGANT COME-UPPANCE?

There we are in Libya, against the wishes of most Americans.  Even those who initially favored our involvement in Libya are now backing away amidst questions of “Why not Syria?  Why not Yemen?  Why not Egypt?”  Next Friday is the Congressional imposed deadline on any President’s right to engage in war.  Obama does not, however, consider the conflict to be a war and hence… the stage is set for a Congressional rebuke.

COMMENTS:
Say it as you will, a Republican-controlled House does not mean that they are in charge of anything except saying “no” to some Presidential or Senatorial whim.  I don’t see how Congress will deny Obama’s venture into Libya and I cannot think of a valid premise for us to be there.  To prevent human slaughter?  Humanitarian reasons?  What about the Sudan?  How about Somalia?  I would like to see Congress stop this senseless entry into Libya, but I can’t imagine that will happen.  After all, the Pentagon contractors need the money.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  My father just told me he gets double-taxed on his Social Security benefits.  How can that be?  (Karen ~ Oakland, CA)
A.  He paid taxes on it when he earned it; then they took some more and stuck it into Social Security.  Now, depending on extra income he may be making while drawing Social Security, he pays on it again…on up to 85%.  They are now working on a way to tax people who have already gone to the grave.  (You think I’m kidding?)

Q.  Every day I hear about tax increases, tax increases…they’re dead set against it, and then yesterday I heard tax increases might be on the table to match cuts and thereby meet the budget goals.  Are they going to tax us more?  (Bella ~ Lander, WY)
A.  I think the country will explode if they try it.  Obama wants it, and what Obama wants, Obama gets; since about two days after he got into office after proclaiming there would be no more taxes, he started in on his campaign to redistribute wealth.  The signs are not good, unless you choose not to reelect him.

Q.  I hear the gas prices are going to drop dramatically.  Aren’t we going into summer, when prices traditionally rise?  (Chester ~ Palo Alto, CA)
A.  Yes, we’re heading into summer.  Expect a mild drop followed by a really dramatic increase.  The oil companies need to make lots of extra bucks so they can contribute to campaigns in 2012.

“People are so busy dreaming the American Dream, fantasizing about what they could be or have a right to be, that they're all asleep at the switch. Consequently we are living in the Age of Human Error.” ~ Florence King
