OBAMA TO OIL COMPANIES: DRILL AWAY!

President Obama is directing his administration to ramp up U.S. oil production by extending existing leases in the Gulf of Mexico and off Alaska's coast and holding more frequent lease sales in a federal petroleum reserve in Alaska.  His announcement follows a public outcry over rising gas prices and three Republican bills to speed up and expand oil and gas exploration.

COMMENTS:
Obviously, he’s got his back to the wall again; that’s always been the only time that he has acted on anything.  That having been said, don’t look for this to have an impact on gas prices at the pump immediately.  Prices are taking a temporary dip as the price of oil is coming down, but summer is just about here and prices always rise.  It will also be months, or years, before these orders result in more production.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q.  Can Casey Anthony get off? (Penny ~ Redding, CA)
A.  As trite as this may seem, the answer is yes; all you need to do is convince the jury and/or the Judge.  I understand she is going to trying and point the finger of blame at her parents for making her into what she is.  I happen to think there is some credence to the argument, but she is still an adult and was when the crime was committed.

Q.  So, Obama had no right to commit us to being in Libya, but how do we get out now, considering the international political implications.   (Tess ~ Yuma, AZ)
A.  We don’t.

Q.  Is there any possibility that Hillary might run against Obama for the Democratic nomination and, if so, what would that mean for the Republicans?  (Gene ~ San Rafael, CA)
A.  Yes, she might.  I happen to think she would handily win.  I think that would be a monumental problem for any Republican to overcome, unless they are from outside the current political establishment.  In other words, that could be good news for Herman Cain and Donald Trump.
