27,000 GULF WELLS POSE DANGER

There are 27,000 abandoned oil and gas wells in the Gulf that could leak, according to several environmental groups. Federal inspectors and regulators don’t typically inspect the plugging process of offshore wells or come back to inspect them for leaks, although such wells located in surface areas have leaked in the past. Petroleum engineers say that even in properly sealed wells, the cement plugs can fail over the decades and the metal casing that lines the wells can rust.

COMMENTS:
Theoretically, they have been collecting fees from operators for the purpose of funding an inspection and regulation program. I’m sure the money is around, maybe hiding with our Social Security funds under a rock some place.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Why does Obama keep appointing people to positions when Congress is out of session? That’s dirty politics. (Jan ~ Chiloquin, OR)
A. Every President has done it. The provision was designed to allow the President to name people to critical vacancies when the Congress was not in session; keep in mind that they only met for a few weeks a year back in the old days. Today, the rule is unneeded and either the rule should be abolished, or Congress should. Bye, bye Nancy?

Q. I’m concerned about the growing number of Muslims in this country and our national security. And, we have a President who is running around telling government officials to be nicer to Muslims. What is really going on? (Karen ~ San Diego, CA)
A. Sometimes, you really need to dig to get the facts. That’s becoming more and more the case as Obama and his Czars seek to cover up their dastardly deeds. They can’t have prayer in schools, but Muslims can bring their Korans to school. Get the message now?

Q. Just a few days ago, the news was filled with allegations by Rod Blagojevich regarding Obama and his stooges. Now, we don’t hear anything. Why? (Lyle ~ Fall River Mills, CA)
A. Because they don’t want you to know what is going on. Blagojevich justified his shakedowns and corruption by pointing out that everyone does it. Therefore, it must be legal and right and is not newsworthy.
