STARTING RIGHT NOW

Forty-six percent, (46%) of the nation’s unemployed have been jobless for six months or more. That's the highest percentage on records going back to 1948. Economists say those out of work for six months or more are becoming less and less employable. Their skills can erode, their confidence falter, their contacts dry up. Their growing ranks also will keep pressure on Congress to keep extending jobless benefits which now run for up to 99 weeks.

COMMENTS:
At extended benefits running to 99 weeks, it’s obvious that there is a significant percentage of the unemployed who have been out of work for a year or longer. In the meanwhile, we have a President and a Congress who seem to be preoccupied with playing dirty politics and screwing their enemies. What an outrage.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What do you think Obama will do if his polling numbers get any lower? (Sandy ~ Carlsbad, NM)
A. Flush the toilet.

Q. How long could the oil well in the Gulf spew oil before it gets empty and stops? (Ike ~ Austin, TX)
A. Until it sucks in China from the other end.

Q. How do you think the stock market will perform in the next 12 months? (Lenora ~ Concord, CA)
A. Up and down, mostly down, and watch out for a plummet by the middle of November. That’s not to say it couldn’t happen before, especially with Europe really starting to hit the skids. Sell your stocks and invest in humble pie, because they’re going to be eating a lot of it in the White House for a while.
