COMMENTS:
Given the continuing unemployment crisis in this country, where benefits have been extended to 99 months because people have been unemployed for two years, given a continuing trend of new unemployment filings hovering around 450,000 per week and given the number of people who have given up hope of ever finding a job again, it is probable that 18 to 20,000,000 people are out of a job. The fact that everyone in the White House is jumping up and down with glee at the 3,000 number is indicative of the presence of hallucinatory drugs. It is also indicative of the panic that has set in as troubles continue to mount at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and the President is busy promoting his magnanimous Health Care Package that 60% of Americans want repealed. TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. How many years will it take for the damage to the Gulf to be repaired? (Ollie ~ Stillwater, OK)A. It’s not years, it’s decades. We have not the slightest idea what this permeation of oil into sea water at varying levels of the ocean is going to do to the water and marine life. We don’t know what the weather ramifications will be. We DO need to be opening new land-based fields and shallow water fields as rapidly as possible and suspending deep water operations in the Gulf until we get a better grip as to what is going on. Whatever you do, don’t even think about walking by the President and saying, “How are you doing there, Slick?”
Q. Is anybody running against Pelosi in the General Election? (Arlie ~ Petaluma, CA)
A. Pelosi got 52,957 votes in the primary. Her Republican opponent will be John Dennis, who got 4,900 votes. Please pass the gray poop on.
Q. California passed Proposition 14, where the top two vote getters in the primaries, regardless of party, will face off in the general elections. What’s your opinion? (Lila ~ Gary, IN)
A. I think it will strengthen the hold of the Democratic Party over California and will eventually result in turning the state into a total welfare state with little or no business activity. Name recognition and campaign war chests will rule the day. Paris Hilton for Governor, Lindsay Lohan for Attorney General.
