MY PICKS IN CALIFORNIA REPUBLICAN PRIMARIES

Governor – Meg Whitman; this state sorely needs someone at the helm who is financially savvy and not some political hack
Lt. Governor – Sam Aanestad
Secretary of State – Damon Dunn
Controller – David Evans
Treasurer – Mimi Walters
Attorney General – John Eastman; I know the guy and he’s an American
Insurance Commissioner – Mike Villines
State Board of Equalization – District 2 – Alan Nakanishi
U.S. Senator – Carly Fiorina; we need someone who can defeat Barbara Boxer, who has been a great disservice to this state and to this country, and we need someone with little political baggage
U.S. Representative – Pete Stiglich; Wally has done a predominantly okay job but, by this time he’s become part of the Washington “culture” that needs to be upended
State Senator, 4th District – Vote either way you want, they both have lousy political baggage on various issues and we can only hope that the Democrats put up someone we can hang our hat on
State Assembly, 2nd District – Charlie Schaupp
County Central Committee, 3rd Supervisory District – I left off Ann Meyer for no particular reason
State School Superintendent – Grant McMicken
Shasta County Assessor – Leslie Morgan
Shasta County Auditor – Connie Regnell
Shasta County Clerk – Cathy Darling
Shasta County D.A. – Jerry Benito; he and Sheriff Bosenko seem to being a good job
