TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I heard that federal tax revenues are way down. Doesn’t that mean that they have to raise taxes? (Cassie – Silver City, NV)
A. Tax revenues are down because people are out of work and not spending money. The expenses are up due to the need to pay unemployment and all of the spending that Congress has been doing. The problem is that, when you raise taxes, people have less money to spend, which means that businesses have less income and must lay off more people in order to keep from losing money. So, it is possible, even probable, that when they raise taxes, their revenues will go down.
Q. Why don’t we have more nuclear energy plants, like other countries do? (Bruce – Palo Cedro, CA)
A. Big oil and the environmentalists are against nuclear energy. Big oil wants to make the money and the environmentalists like living in the dark.
Q. If God is good, then why did God make flies? (Krissie – Portsmouth, VA)
A. To make the wind blow. There are also “Fly-By-Nights” who run the government. Some people fish for flies, and they are called fly fishermen. There are lots of flies around Burney, which is why so many fly fishermen visit there in the summer.
