ANGRY SOLDIER PARENTS DEMAND ANSWERS

"Basically, my son died unnecessarily, hunting for a guy that we shouldn't even have been hunting for," Robert Andrews, the father of Second Lieutenant Darryn Andrews who lost his life in the search says.  Bergdahl's team leader, Sgt. Evan Buetow, who described him as a "deserter," said Bergdahl walked away from his post leaving behind his flak jacket and without weapons, after making statements that he sympathized with the Afghans and indicated he didn't have faith in the U.S. efforts in the country and wanted to leave the military.

Kenneth Luccioni, Private First Class Matthew Martinek's stepfather, told Reuters. "There were a lot of people who risked their lives for this young man, and we want the truth."  Mertinek also died searching for Bergdahl.

COMMENTS:
And news came late yesterday afternoon that the five terrorists released from Guantanamo in exchange for Bergdahl have already re-associated with the Taliban.  I’m so angry that I cannot possibly make a sarcastic remark about this bullshit.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I know you’re very angry about the Taliban prisoner release.  What are your feelings about Bergdahl?  (Ken ~ Fremont, CA)
A. As I’ve said, I hate to see anyone suffer in an enemy prison and am sure the parents are glad he’d being released.  On the other hand, evidence supports the charges of desertion and there are strong implications that he consorted with the enemy to bring harm to his own unit.  Here he is, being treated like a hero when the Administration wants to castrate Snowden for whistle blowing.  Bergdahl should get his medical treatment right after the last guy waiting at the V.A. gets his… period.

Q. How do you feel about new proposed legislation to make it tougher for the mentally ill to get their hands on firearms?  (Linny, Goleta, CA)
A. Don’t me wrong; I’m basically all for the concept.  In Santa Barbara in one of the toughest states in the union on gun laws, you had an obviously mentally disturbed man able to purchase guns; every red flag was waving.  Had the existing system worked, he would not have been able to purchase those guns.  We need to make sure the existing laws are enforced before we run off to create some more.  Furthermore, we need to be dealing with the actual problems of mental illness, not just the symptoms.  A good start on addressing mental issues would be to send Dr. Laura over to see Barack Hussein Obama.

Q. How much more time will pass, do you think, before progress is made on shortening wait times at V.A. clinics?  And, when can vets start going to see civilian doctors? (Brette ~ Rosemont, IL)
A. Don’t look for any progress until after the November elections, if then.  Congress will have its summer vacation and then you're right into pre-election jitter time when no incumbent wants to make any waves.  Theoretically, and they have been touting this, veterans can go see a civilian doctor anytime.  They fail to mention that in order for the doctor to get paid, the vet has to present him with a voucher authorizing treatment and the vet still has to be seen at the V.A. Clinic in order to get that.  More Catch 22 BS.

“While Taliban fighters had an initial claim to protection under the conventions, they lost POW status by failing to obey the standards of conduct for legal combatants: wearing uniforms, a responsible command structure, and obeying the laws of war.” ~ John Yoo
