Insurance companies offering coverage through ObamaCare are
putting price caps on services provided by top doctors and hospitals so that
they can maintain a profit. This in turn
means that top doctors and hospitals are declining to accept those
insurers. The end result is that
citizens under ObamaCare will be receiving a declining level of health
care. Additionally, insurance companies
are kicking doctors and hospitals off of their programs because their fees are
too high; it’s a two way street causing great concern among the medical
community.
COMMENTS:
Wealthy people will be able to buy accepted insurance
outside of the ObamaCare exchanges or to simply self-insure by going to doctors
and hospitals that no longer accept insurance.
We are headed for a severe case of “haves and have-nots” when it comes to
medical care in this country.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I’m really angry.
My wife and I have had the same health insurance company and policy for
over 15 years. We just received a notice
announcing that due to the Affordable Care Act, they have elected to no longer
write insurance in my state. Now I
discover that for me to get the same insurance coverage through ObamaCare, I
have to pay over three times as much and there is an $8,000 deductible
involved. We simply can’t afford
it. Isn’t there some way out of this
mess? (Cleve ~ Fremont, CA)
A. Your way out of this mess was during the last
election. There is a chance, if we
retain a non-Democrat House and switch to a non-Democrat Senate in 2014 that we
can repeal this law and have enough votes to override the President’s
veto. You really should have listened to
those of us who were trying to warn you.
But, as it is, you have no choice but to “shop around.”
Q. I worry about a nationwide computer shutdown from an
infected internet. Is that
possible? (Irving ~ Birmingham, AL)
A. Yes. Foreign
countries have agents constantly trying to bring down the Internet,
particularly in the U.S. Another big
worry is a stray solar flare that could cause a magnetic pulse and shut down
substantial portions of the world’s electric grids. That happened in 1859. It only takes such a flare a little over
three days to reach Earth and we are totally unprepared to deal with it or the
results, such as fried computers, shut-down power stations and emergency
generators that won’t work. You run out
of gas, frozen foods melt and spoil, emergency services can’t communicate and
you eventually run out of gas.
Q. In light of the revelation that Iran could have a nuclear
weapon in less than 30 days, do you think the U.S. will join Israel in a
pre-emptive strike to take out Iran’s nuclear facilities? (Walt ~ Golden Valley, NV)
A. No. If Israel is
going to strike Iran, it’s going to have to do it on its own. Putin has warned us to stay out of it and
Obama doesn’t have the backbone to stand up to Putin. At the very most, we might send Israel a few
bunker-buster bombs, but don’t count on it.
