Kim Jong Un has warned foreigners in South Korea they should
get out of the country, amid warnings that nuclear war against South Korea is
imminent. At least two
intermediate-range missiles capable of delivering a nuclear device to South
Korea are on the launch pad, ostensibly for another “test.” The U.S. insists it has the ability
to destroy any missile fired out of North Korea.
COMMENTS:
There has been no plateau in the threats coming out of Pyongyang,
only escalating, menacing rhetoric. It is now almost
virtually impossible for Un to back down without losing face. Waging war against South Korea could fire up his
stressed economy and he needs something to get people in his nation’s minds off
their hunger. I believe he lacks the
experience for successful brinksmanship.
He may fully believe that even if he loses a war, the U.S. will come in
and rebuild his nation and feed his people.
It’s beyond being a tinderbox there; even the slightest of sparks will inflame
a horrible conflagration. Now, here's the clincher: It would be almost impossible for our ships to know where a "test" missile could be headed early in the launch, so we would have virtually no choice but to intercept it and shoot it down; that could be the spark. Un’s deadline
for people to clear out of South Korea was April 10th. You can
almost hear the clock ticking, loudly and ominously.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I see that a bunch of Colorado Sheriffs are planning to
sue the state over the newly-passed gun laws on the basis that they violate the
Second Amendment. Hooray for
them. Will they succeed? (Edgar ~ Taos, NM)
A. That depends on whether or not the lawsuit gets to the
U.S. Supreme Court before a Conservative Judge retires or dies and Obama gets a
chance to replace him. It’s as simple as
that; the merits of the case don’t matter.
Q. There’s a public school in Wisconsin that is teaching
students that conservatism restricts personal freedoms. What is going on in that nation’s schools,
anyway? Are they indoctrinating our
children with socialism and anti-American values? (Chloe ~ Davis, CA)
A. Absolutely. Beyond
that, they are revising history and not teaching about our Constitutional form
of government. This is an overt attempt
to change our society into overthrowing our government. Check to see what’s going on in your schools.
Q. What do you think of the proposed gun bill compromise
reached by Senators Toomey and Manchin?
(Inge ~ Park City, UT)
A. It gives any doctor the power to deny any proposed gun
owner the ability to purchase a firearm and it does not provide for an appeal
process; he or she can also be added without any personal notification. Knowing that a doctor might turn him in, a
person seeking mental treatment would likely avoid getting it. To my knowledge, there is absolutely no
provision for removing a person from the denial list for any reason
whatsoever. This is a dangerous bill and
obviously, like everything else going on in Washington at the moment, not well thought
out.
TODAY’S QUOTE:
“We find this offensive to have Evangelical Christians and
the Catholic Church to be listed among known terrorist groups. It is dishonorable for any U.S. military
entity to allow this type of wrongheaded characterization.” ~ Ron Crews,
executive director of the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty, in response
to a DHS training session claiming that members of certain religious groups are
to be monitored diligently for potential terrorist acts.
