MASSIVE LAYOFFS, CUTBACKS & PRICE HIKES LOOM

The advent of ObamaCare and associated tax hikes is already starting to cause havoc in the business world.  Hostess Baking Company, a national food & bread standard bearer for over a century has closed its doors due to union demands and higher costs of doing business; that's 50,000+ layoffs.  Business executives from virtually every sector are looking to lay off every employee they can; hiring is slowing again; cutbacks of full-time employees to part-time are in the hopper.  Still, business knows it must also raise prices to cover remaining costs which include higher taxes and inflationary trends.  Energy prices and transportation costs in the manufacturing sectors show no serious signs of easing.  Investment capital that has been bottled up in corporate bank accounts is now looking for viable overseas alternatives to the higher costs of being in stateside business.

COMMENTS:
This is not the time to buy a new car.  I think you are going to see many smaller, community oriented banks fold.  The small independent business has no choice but to sell out to the competition or close its doors.  Those that remain must buy materials and products from overseas in order to remain competitive domestically; more jobs lost.  We are in for very, very tough times and in the process, we are going to lose more freedoms and our way of life. Yes, this is going to be a gloomy Christmas, but next year's will be the absolute pits.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Am I crazy or was that “Presidential Press Conference” the other day a total sham?  (Trujillo ~ Riverside, CA)
A. You are not crazy.  Obama practiced an old Fascist trick: “Pretend to tell the masses everything, but tell them nothing.”  Others skilled at this practice include Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Assad and Hussein.

Q. What do you think about Wal-Mart employees walking out and refusing to work on Thanksgiving Day?  (Lola ~ San Jose, CA)
A. It’s basically a union move and I rarely agree with unions.  However, Thanksgiving and Christmas have traditionally been holidays in the retail world from time immemorial.  Those are two days a year they get to spend with their families for certain.  How many days a business is open for Christmas shopping doesn’t matter; people only have so much money to spend and that’s it.  If they don’t spend it on Thanksgiving Day, they’ll get it spent before Santa arrives anyway.  In my opinion, every American in the country should stay home on Thanksgiving and let Wal-Mart eat crow.

Q. I am angry and upset.  The NLRB is about to approve a regulation that will force any business to turn over all of its employee personal telephone numbers and email addresses whether it is a union shop or not.  They say this is so the unions can organize; I say this is a violation of my privacy and my employer-employee relationship.  How can we stop this?  (Raymond ~ Burney, CA)
A. Well, you can quit working.  Or, you can hire an attorney and sue, but you’ll need loads and loads of money because this will not get settled until it gets to the Supreme Court five or six years from now, if they agree to hear it.  If you voted for Obama, you have no one to blame but yourself; our privacies and freedoms in this country will soon be complete toast.
