Reuters is reporting that, contrary to some of the more optimistic housing news this week, contracts to purchase previously owned U.S. homes unexpectedly fell in April to a four-month low. "The drop in pending home sales is clearly disappointing," said Pierre Ellis, an economist at Decision Economics in New York. "It remains to be seen whether this is the beginning of a real downturn."
COMMENTS:
I’ll bet you don’t see this
story in the liberal media or press. The
fact is, all economic indicators are pointing south. Quit spending and save your money for when
you will really need it.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What’s all of the heat over the latest Presidential Medal
of Freedom honoree? (Moon ~ Mt. Shasta
City, CA)
A. Obama awarded the medal on Tuesday to Dolores Huerta, an
82-year-old labor activist and co-founder of the United Farm Workers union.
Huerta is also an honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America.
Q. Will the recent massacre of civilian females and children
get the U.S. into the Syrian situation?
(Yarbrough ~ Truckee, CA)
A. Despite UN Syrian peace envoy Kofi Annan calling last
week’s massacre in the Syrian town of Houla – where 108 were killed, including
34 women and 49 children – “a tipping point,” there is little prospect of
meaningful UN or Western action in response to this atrocity because of a lack
of Western resolve to act outside of a UN framework and continuing Russian and
Chinese support for the Assad regime. Thanks to LIGNET.
Q. When will medical insurance premiums start going down as
promised under ObamaCare? (Ogden ~ Lake
Tahoe, NV)
A. Never. That
promise is a pie in the sky. In fact, here’s an example. “Due to the Patient Protection and Affordable
Care Act (PPACA – commonly known as health care reform), the cost of student
health insurance has doubled,” read the letter from a Christian college’s human
resources department. In addition, most insurance carriers are hesitant to
provide contracts for this insurance due to the unpredictability of the cost of
the claims.
