EARTHQUAKE RATTLES WASHINGTON, DC

A 5.8 magnitude earthquake centered 40 miles northwest of Richmond, Virginia forced evacuation of some federal offices in Washington and surrounding areas.  The most recent larger recorded quake in the area was 5.9 at Giles County, Virginia in 1897.

COMMENTS:
Obama was on the golf course when it hit, (but did he sink the putt?).  I’ve always said God would get even with those guys in Washington, and maybe this is the beginning.  If Obama had been there when it happened instead of Martha’s Vineyard, he most certainly would have parted the waters of the Potomac and led everybody to safety.

TODAY’S QUERIES AND ANSWERS:
Q. I’ve noticed, particularly on Fox, that the interviewers keep interrupting and not letting people finish what they are saying.  I think that is rude and crude.  What do you think?  (Loretta ~ Boise, ID)
A. They claim that it is because they have a right to respond to what the interviewee is saying, or that they need to keep the dialog focused, or that some people get carried away.  Whatever the reason, I agree with you.  It is rude and crude and I, too, notice it on Fox more than any other channel.  If they don’t want to hear what the interviewees have to say, why have them on?  I’m just about to the point that I would rather watch MTV.

Q. What do you make of Maxine Waters telling the Tea Party to “go to hell?”  (Arnie ~ Redding, CA)
A. That just goes to show how small-minded all of those left-wing liberals really are.  I’m surprised Obama hasn’t said it, although Pelosi has come close.  They are afraid of the Tea Parties and, instead of confronting their fears on a measured and rational basis, they lose it.  How someone with a brain that size can ever be elected to Congress, I will never know.  The Tea Parties, on the other hand, are gaining strength as the rest of America comes to the realization that those of us who love our country and want it back share the same thoughts, opinions and goals as the Tea Parties do.  So, they can demonize all they want; let them dig their own piles of dung.

Q. When things first started to go bad in late 2008, banks started to fail and the number of failures was high in 2009 and even 2010, but I haven’t heard how things stand now.  Do you know?  (Eugenia ~ Norwalk, CA)
A. According to the FDIC, the number of “problem” banks fell, plummeted, skidded down from 888 in the 1st quarter to 865 in the 2nd quarter and Obama was so excited he decided to vacation at Martha’s Vineyard.  They surely spin these reports, don’t they?  865 banks in trouble in this nation is scary, to say the least, particularly with four straight months of declining housing sales, high unemployment, debt degrading, high deficit, and a government that is incapable of doing anything about it.
