UP YOURS! OBAMA REVIVES ACORN!

The discredited and supposedly defunct ACORN organization was an employer of Barack Obama’s attorney expertise and Obama gave that organization a huge chunk of money in 2008 for its “Project Vote.”  Allegations are that ACORN was involved in several fraudulent voter registration schemes across the country for which they have been found guilty in at least one state.  Now, Obama is naming his new voter registration initiative… “Project Vote.”  And there is no wall of separation between this new “Project Vote” and ACORN.

COMMENTS:
I just don’t know what to say.  I am flabbergasted.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What’s this about the White House wanting to redefine the memory of 9/11 as being “for the world” instead of “about us?”  I didn’t see any planes going into the Eiffel Tower.  (Bart ~ Tyler, TX)
A. I agree with you.  That condescending jerk of a President who can’t speak without a teleprompter has no business telling ME how to remember 9/11.

Q. There are so many ways that money leaks out of our Federal coffers, how can they ever plug all of the holes?  (Olga ~ Richmond, VA)
A. Here’s a grant opportunity, through the Bureau of Land Management for $90,000: “The study is designed to determine the fine scale population genetic structure of the Mohave Ground Squirrel (MGS; Xerospermophilus mohavensis). In particular, this project focuses on recent samples obtained in what is believed to be one of the primary north-south corridors maintaining genetic continuity across the species' range. These data will be incorporated into a range-wide analysis of the landscape genetic connectivity of the species across its range.”  There are dozens of these grants available; how about studying the mating habits of the desert tortoise?  Well, if we had excess money in the bank, 3% unemployment and no national debt, maybe this would be a nice study to do.  But, that’s not the case and this $90,000 should not be spent.

Q. So, Romney refused to allow the Boy Scouts to assist in the Olympics because they won’t allow gays to be leaders?  (Thad ~ Laramie, WY)
A. That’s correct.  Romney is saying that’s not true, that the rule was you had to be 18, but no Boy Scouts 18 or over were allowed to help, either.  Romney, if you remember correctly, devised the forerunner of ObamaCare in Massachusetts and is now saying that, if elected as President, he will immediately give all states waivers from compliance.  But, when you are dealing with politicians, you have to ignore what they say and judge them by their past actions.

It seems to me they are sending down their bullies to create fist fights among average American citizens who don't want a government-run health care plan forced upon them.” ~ Jon Voight

CONGRESS WANTS A RAISE

Some Congressmen are grumbling about the lousy $174,000 they make a year, plus pensions plus benefits.  One Congressman complained he had to give up his family life and work long and hard hours for the "lousy" paycheck.

COMMENTS:
Given a national economy that is in the toilet, given the fact that they could not reach a responsible debt solution, given the fact that they know what the pay is before they run for office and given the fact that 84% of the country thinks they are doing a totally rotten job, we should feel sorry for them?  WHO IN THE SAM HELL DO THEY THINK THEY ARE?  BARACK OBAMA?

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Colin Powell came out and unmercifully castigated Dick Cheney.  What are your thoughts?  (York ~ Denver, CO)
A. Dick Cheney is about to publish a book that contains references to Powell’s inability or unwillingness to do his job correctly.  A few years ago, I supported Powell as a potential Presidential candidate, but his liberal leanings eventually convinced me that he should never be President.  While I believe that any leader should always have someone in his stable who takes opposing views in order to provide balance in thought and action, Powell went beyond that description.  I’ll stand by Cheney on this one.

Q. About this flap over the Lockerbie airline bomber and Scotland, what are your feelings?  (Terrie ~ Los Angeles, CA)
A. Had the so-called cancer and death bed scenario been legitimate and had Great Britain and the U.S. been consulted, a last-minute release could have been appropriate from a humanitarian standpoint.  Scotland released him because they wanted Libyan oil.  In my opinion, Scotland supported terrorism and should be dealt with accordingly on an international basis, and I do not mean 50 lashes with a wet noodle.

Q. Was there something about Chinese miners being trapped and killed?  (Clo ~ Newark, CA)
A. Well, 22 miners were trapped in a flooded pit for about a week.  Evidently, four died.  Isn’t it amazing how little news about the world we actually get?

FEDS TO REIMBURSE STATES FOR IRENE’S DAMAGE

The Federal government will pay out the billions of dollars in damages that Irene caused along the East Coast to the affected states.  It is too early to estimate the cost of the storm, but New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said New Jersey alone may have suffered tens of billions of dollars in damage.

COMMENTS:
Don’t get me wrong; we do need to come to the aid of those who suffer through such a calamity.  The problem I have is that the money should be coming out of state coffers, not the Federal coffers.  But, the states don’t have the money because the Federal government latches on to it.  This is fundamentally wrong and underscores the upside down thinking of this Congress and President and those who came before them.  The only reasons we are supposed to have a Federal government is to provide security for the country, to make sure commerce between the states goes peacefully, and to represent the country in international affairs.  But, we have allowed our government to gorge itself on state tax revenues, to seize the power of the states and of the people, and to morph into the big bad wolf.  Somehow, we have to undo this, shrink the government back to reasonable size and get the power and the money back into the hands of the states and the taxpayers.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I have heard that a Las Vegas Hotel that is still under construction may be razed and imploded.  I thought Vegas was where all the money is?  (Tanya ~ Price, UT)
A. All of the money is in China.  The Hotel is under construction on Harmon Avenue behind the Aladdin on the Las Vegas Strip.  But cost overruns, shoddy construction and the downturn in Vegas business have combined to make it economically unfeasible.  When I first got into the business, I was told by a wise guy old-timer that as long as you take care of your business, no one can steal it from you and it will always be there.  In 2011, Nevada gaming establishments are predominantly owned and operated by corporate conglomerates who don’t give a hoot about the individual customer.  Hence, the business has gone away and Vegas, for one, is paying the price.  One of these days, maybe they’ll wake up and bring the wise guys back.

Q. What is going to happen with our money woes when Congress comes back?  (Margo ~ Redding, CA)
A. That’s a scary thought.  Monetary leaders around the globe are fearful that continued inaction, or lack of sufficient action on the part of political leaders may lead the world into a much deeper financial and economic crisis.  The United States seems to be the leader in this “inaction” problem.  We have not directly addressed and resolved one single economic problem in this country since Obama took office.  Not much in that direction was done before.

Q. Is the housing market getting any better?  (Sweeney ~ St. George, UT)
A. Housing is in the worst condition it has been in since the great depression and all housing indicators continue to be bad.  Sorry for the bad news, but unemployment is likely to increase again next month as well.

NEVER MIND THE TEA PARTIES: NETFLIX CAN GO TO HELL

Back in July, Netflix announced that it was changing its pricing structure, segregating those who rent on the Internet from those who rent by mail.  The result was that fees for those who do both went up by 55%.  Netflix refused to budge at the resulting consumer uproar.  Now, as an additional slap in the face of the consumer, they are advertising an attractive “Come on back” offer for $7.99 a month, $12.00 less than previously charged.  But, when you read the fine print, that’s only for Internet rentals.  If you want the DVD mail service as well, add another $7.99 on a temporary promotion and if you want Blue Ray, that’s another $2.00.  So, they’re offering you exactly what their last gimmick offered and telling you that another rate increase from that is just around the corner.

COMMENTS:
I called them when they started this and their answer was, essentially, “We’re the ones in charge and if you don’t like it, tough.”  I’ve been without Netflix for over a month now and am certainly suffering no withdrawal symptoms.  It is this type of gimmickry that the politicians employ in Washington. Shoddy business practices should hopefully lead to their bankruptcy.

TODAY’S QUERIES AND ANSWERS:
Q. Iran is warning the world not to let Syria’s Assad to fall, saying that such an event will stir up all kinds of “problems” in the region.  Iran is the only ally that Syria has left and they are feeding Assad arms and munitions to help him mow down the rebels.  Are we or NATO going to get involved in this, like we did in Libya?  (Cory ~ Scottsdale, AZ)
A. If we do, Obama will have to ignore Congress again and claim imperial rights to do what he wants.  I suspect that would mean impeachment charges coming out of the House.  I’d say, “That’s great,” but the Senate would never vote for impeachment and we’d just have another six-month long drama with the Washington imbeciles.

Q. Biden came back from France saying we need another stimulus.  What does that portend?  (Clarice ~ Hayward, CA)
A. All of these leaks and blabs coming from various Obama cronies are just testing the waters to see what might fly with the American people when Obama makes his economic plan, which he still hasn’t written, public.  But, Biden is not the only crony to make this suggestion, which means to me that Obama is in fact going to ask for another $500 billion or so for another stimulus.  I don’t know about you, but he can kiss my royal behind if he thinks the American public will go along with another assault on our deficit.

Q. The hurricane reminds me of the Gulf oil spill that the media is covering up.  What is going on with that?  (Shasta ~ Seattle, WA)
A. A federal judge has just allowed hundreds of lawsuits again BP and others involved to go forward.  The latest news on the cleanup itself, from April of 2011, is posted on the only website I found information on,  http://www.restorethegulf.gov/  And, of course, there’s still that big, subsurface blob of oil with millions of gallons of oil in it that no one is talking about.

OBAMA LOSES $400 MILLION IN 2012 UNION CAMPAIGN FUNDING

The AFL-CIO has announced it is pulling its support from the Democratic Party and from Barack Obama.  Obama raised $800 million in his 2008 presidential bid and half of that came from AFL-CIO coffers.  While issuing scathing remarks about the Tea Parties, union officials cited most of the Tea Party objectives as being objectives they believe in and said they intended to form their own grassroots organizations for 2012.

COMMENTS:
Obama is furious. Livid.  Purple.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Why is Obama really heading back to Washington from Martha’s Vineyard before his vacation is over?  (Sam ~ Missoula, MT)
A. Irene told him to get out of town and he blew a one-foot putt.  .

Q. Did I hear that China has admitted to hacking our computers? (Lenora ~ Tucson, AZ)
A. No, they deny that.  But, Chinese state television shows a Chinese computer expert talking about cyber-security issues and that clip seems to confirm attacks on U.S. computers.  Col. Du Wenlong, the expert, is probably now known as Col. Du Wenlong Gon.

Q. Rick Perry has come out saying there should be an amendment to the Constitution banning gay marriage.  Who in the hell does he think he is?  (Bruce ~ Redding, CA)
A. He probably did so believing that the proposed amendment stands no chance of passing.  But, if it does pass, I agree with him.  I’m not against gays, but I do not believe the government has any business sticking its nose into this issue and that various religions are offering church weddings of gays while the state and federal governments are recognizing gay spouses for insurance and other purposes.  This has become a matter of the minority trying to tell the majority how to conduct itself, and I for one am not going to stand for this nonsense any longer.
