The Obama Administration has decided to sell its remaining shares of General Motors and to take an $11 billion loss, despite assurances at the time the $50 billion bailout was made that Americans would get their money back. Company CEO Dan Akerson says he supports the move. "I feel pretty good about that. I think we're in pretty good shape," Akerson says, according to the Associated Press.
COMMENTS:
That’s only $36 for every man, woman and child in the country; no big deal. It’s a great testimony to Obama’s business acumen. Invest $50 billion, lose $11 billion; that's good monetary policy, especially when it’s not your money. Reelect good old Barry and let’s have some more CHANGE. Or, perhaps, corruption?
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. The story of the Canadian baby who was denied surgery because she was going to eventually die anyway due to a progressive nerve disease, and who was finally transferred to the U.S. for the life-saving surgery really upsets me. How can the Canadian medical system do such things? (Carole ~ Anderson, CA)
A. Hold on to your bloomers, because that’s exactly where ObamaCare is headed.
Q. I know that many filthy rich people do not pay any taxes. Now, I know the argument is that they give to charity and they create jobs, etc, but I still don’t think it is fair that they don’t pay anything. (Sue ~ Los Angeles, CA)
A. I agree. I think that people with a gross income of $1 million or more should have to pay a minimum tax, and that tax loopholes which allow the rich to escape taxes should be closed. I do not favor raising the overall rate, because the people who aren’t paying anything now still won’t be paying anything and only the ones paying something now will be impacted. We do not want to stifle economic growth in the process. It’s a tough balancing act, and Ringling brothers should probably be involved in the process; why not, it’s all a government circus anyway!
Q. Did I hear correctly that Obama is not ordering a full review of air traffic controllers because of the unions? (John ~ Reno, NV)
A. That was the opinion of a guest on a T.V. show. He theorized that the controllers, who belong to the very strong pilots union, would be ticked off, so he doesn’t want to tackle the problem before the election, because he’s counting on their contributions. But, Obama wouldn’t do anything like that, would he? Nahhh.
