The Los Angeles Dodgers, at one time the Brooklyn Dodgers and one of the top teams in baseball history, have been taken over by the Major League Baseball Commission. The MLB is citing a horrendous divorce scandal and brawling fight among the team’s owners, Frank and Jamie McCourt. Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig said he will appoint a trustee to oversee all aspects of the business and the day-to-day operations of the club.
COMMENTS:
Well, I’m a Yankees fan at heart, and also have an allegiance to the Mariners since both of my sons live in the Seattle metro area. There’s nothing like a good divorce battle; even the war in Libya doesn’t hold a candle to a good divorce battle. This is better than watching reruns of “DYNASTY” or ‘DALLAS.” Hell, I might even quit watching Obama because of this drama!
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I read yesterday that almost half of Iowans don’t think Obama was born in the U.S. This controversy has been going on since he became President and I understand he has spent millions of dollars on legal fees to keep people from getting a copy of his actual birth certificate. Yet, there are a lot of high ranking people who say they are sure he was born in the U.S. What’s your opinion? (Hannah ~ Barstow, CA)
A. I always have gotten a lot of questions on this issue, but since Donald has been out there Trumpeting his opinions, I’ve gotten a ton of them. I don’t care who assures me that everything is okay. The fact that he has refused and actively fought giving up such a simple document, and the fact that he is a notorious liar, tells me everything I need to know. He denied knowing Ayers, he denied knowing Rezko, he misled us about Jeremiah Wright… and he insists he was born in the U.S. If he is a United States citizen, I will eat my shorts. What ticks me off even more is that Congress has not seen fit to settle the issue once and for all by investigating it on their own. Ask yourself this: Why hasn’t Obama agreed to send a bi-partisan delegation to Hawaii to see it themselves and come back to testify on it?
Q. I understand that the vast majority of the oil from the BP Gulf spill is lurking beneath the surface several hundred feet below in a big glob. Are they investigating it to try and figure out what will eventually happen to it? (Juanita ~ Redding, CA)
A. Are you serious? This is the Obama Administration. They don’t address any issues until they become a national emergency. Out of sight, out of mind, but you can bet your sweet buns that we have not heard the last of this. Obama is just hoping and praying nothing will happen before Election Day.
Q. Why are they raising such a ruckus about online poker betting? (Ben ~ Minden, NV)
A. For one thing, it is unregulated; they can rig the games or refuse to pay and, since most of them are located off-shore, what are you going to do about it? For another, there is a social issue of having gambling so readily accessible; addicted gamblers are literally pissing away their money and ending up as burdens on the rest of society. For another, Nevada and Atlantic City need the gaming revenue. There is talk of a national license system for such games, but I am dead set against it, and I worked in the gaming business for 31 years.
