MOJAVE CROSS GETS DOUBLE-CROSSED

The Latin cross was first errected in 1934 by a local VFW unit to honor war dead. It has been rebuilt several times over the years, and Easter services are held annually at the desert site. The site is on national park land that totals about 1.6 million acres, or 2,500 square miles. The ACLU and other anti-religious groups demanded that the cross be removed since it was on public land, and the matter ended up in Court where a Federal Judge ruled in 2001 that it could stay, but must be covered with plywood until the legal issues could be sorted out.

On April 28th, the Supreme Court ruled that the cross could stay; obviously not to allow the law to win the day, someone stole the cross on May 9th. Cross activists welded together a new cross, but the National Park Service denied erection of the replacement on the grounds that the Supreme Court decision covered only the original cross and no substitutes. Sometime in the May19-20 timeframe, however, someone snuck onto the property and erected a new cross. As of the date of this post, it is unknown as to whether the cross remains on site.

I don’t know about you, but I have just about had it with the scum that is tearing at the very fabric of our country. If you agree, take a look at this website: http://manhattandeclaration.org/home.aspx

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Richard Blumenthal who is running for the Senate from Connecticut has now apologized for lying about his Viet Nam service. What’s your opinion? (Kylie ~ Concord, NH)
A. He’s a liar and cannot be trusted. He’s taken many days to apologize, which leads me to believe he only apologized because he’s feeling it in the polls. He and John Kerry should get on a slow boat to North Korea.

Q. What’s your response to the Sarah Palin flap over the White House and BP and the Gulf oil spill? (Gary ~ South Bend, IN)
A. Whenever you see the White House howl like a wounded banshee, you know that someone has hit a nerve. I vote with Palin on this one; I personally know of BP’s arrogance and flat-out disregard for safety and the environment. The fact that Obama gave them a safety award is indicative on its face that he owed them a favor.

Q. When is the first wind generator going up on Hatchet Mountain? (Carole ~ Burney, CA)
A. Soon; the pieces are being hauled through town as we speak. There should be plenty of hot air to keep it turning; I hear through the grapevine that Nancy Pelosi may be building a summer home around here somewhere.
