A123 Systems received $249 million in government grants in
2010 and our illustrious President got on his soap box and said to them, “The work you’re doing will help power the
American economy for years to come.” The
company spent $132 million of that money on plant expansions; we don’t know
what happened to the other $117 million, but we do know that the company made a
substantial contribution to Obama’s campaign fund. We also know that the company filed for
bankruptcy and is now being sold to a Chinese company for $257 million; of
course, the company will be sold free of all debts.
COMMENTS:
The company makes batteries for cars and similar equipment. It looks as if the Chinese now have all the “juice” and Americans got hosed.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I just can’t afford another $2,000 a year in taxes if we
go over the fiscal cliff. I am running
my family as barebones as I can right now.
Doesn’t anyone get that? (Sofia ~
Ferndale, WA)
A. Well, just what are you going to do when you get saddled
with another $6,000 in taxes next
year to pay for ObamaCare? That’s right…
$6,000 in more taxes for the top 20%
of the American households. Don’t you
wonder why they’re not talking about that?
Q. I understand Charlie Crist from Florida has switched
parties three times in the last year or so.
How could anyone vote for a guy like that? (Marty ~ Valencia, CA)
A. He switched from Republican to Independent when he lost
his senatorial bid, and he lost again.
Now, he’s switched to Democrat so he can run for governor again
2010. There’s essentially no difference
anymore between a Republican and a Democrat, so I say he stands a good chance
at winning. But, what do I know; I
actually thought Obama was going to lose in 2012… until they put Romney up as
the nominee.
Q. I know that Wisconsin had a big union ruckus and
understand that Michigan is now going to go through the same thing. Is it the same beef? (Minnie ~ Las Vegas, NV)
A. Wisconsin was faced with the problem of the state’s unions
refusing to budge and help him balance the state’s budget. In Michigan, the Governor is simply trying to
make it a state where non-union employees can get a job without being forced to
join a union or to pay union dues. In
other words, he wants a “right to work” state.
You can bet that every union hack in the country will end up in a
Michigan protest line soon. Even Obama
has chimed in; he doesn’t believe in “right to work” states.
