FEINSTEIN DEMANDS BAN ON ASSAULT WEAPONS

California Senator Diane Feinstein told Meet the Press over the weekend that she will introduce legislation on the first day of Congress next year to ban “the sale, transfer and possession of assault weapons, along with the [possession] of high-capacity magazines."

COMMENTS:
Where is the cry for investigating and resolving the sickness that is permeating our society and creating the mental atmosphere that encourages mass murder?  Somewhere in this barrage of insanity about gun control, I also heard someone suggest that it should be made easier for relatives and authorities to send people to “nut houses.”  Let me tell you, insane asylums have become prisoners for many sane people as a means for shutting them up and getting them out of the way.  Neither one of these “solutions” is valid.  The only valid solution is to pin down the causes, not the symptoms.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Why is Obama being so smug about Iran’s growing nuclear threat?  (Vincent ~ La Crescenta, CA)
A. Perhaps it has to do with a new, top secret weapon.  The military has developed an unmanned drone capable of sending out very strong electronic impulses that will fry all electronic devices on the ground.  The weapon has been designed by Boeing and is undergoing testing. It supposedly will penetrate underground bunkers and all radar so it can be flown to a target without discovery.  The initial unit costs $38 million.  My ex-wife could throw a plate just as fast, just as deadly and for far less money.

Q. The Russians are fighting fracking, but not for environmental reasons as I understand it.  Wouldn’t they want fracking to increase their energy supplies?  (Anh ~ Melrose Park, CA)
A. I don’t know why, but every time I hear that word, I think of the Mustang Ranch in Nevada.  Russia wants Poland and other nearby countries to be dependent on it for their oil supplies.  When Poland initiated plans to start fracking, Putin authorized stepped-up production of oil in Siberia, thereby dropping the prices and making fracking economically unfeasible.  When the Ukraine started fracking, Russia cut off its natural gas supply.

Q. I was reading that scientists are close to being able to explain Biblical events and miracles.  Isn’t this blasphemy?  (Prentice ~ Puyallup, WA)
A. Look at it this way: they say that a strong wind pushed away about five feet of water in the Red Sea and allowed Moses to lead the Israelites to safety.  Well, how did Moses know when the parting would occur, that the whole path was clear and that it would stay clear while they escaped?  I think they are being a little glib in their attempts to prove that God and Jesus do not exist.  Those of us who would give credence to these new explanations need to sit down and pray for forgiveness.

TODAY’S QUOTE:
We are the miracle of force and matter making itself over into imagination and will. Incredible. The Life Force experimenting with forms. You for one. Me for another. The Universe has shouted itself alive. We are one of the shouts.” ~ Ray Bradbury
