Nancy Pelosi is badgering House members of the Democratic
Party to pony up contributions to the Democratic Congressional Campaign
Committee, which has raised $1.8 million; some 64 members have thus far refused
to donate. The Republicans, on the other
hand, have raised over $6.3 million.
COMMENTS:
I have pity for those 64 Members who will certainly bear the
brunt of Nancy’s wrath before this is over.
She’ll be sending the Democratic Whip over to their offices to give them
at least 50 lashes apiece.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What do you think of the 7th Circuit Court of
Appeals ruling that high school graduations cannot be held in a church? (Wesley ~ Olympia, WA)
A. A church is only a building. The Court ruled that the students were
exposed to a cross and some hymnals in the pews and that violated separation of
church and state. I graduated in a
Mormon tabernacle because it was the largest venue in town, and that is quite
often the case in small towns. I have no problem with that and I am not a
Mormon. I think we are allowing a bunch
of God hating anti-religious zealot-liberals to distort common sense and
reason.
Q. There’s a college in Indiana, Indiana University Southeast,
that limits free speech except in specified “free speech zones.” How do they get away with this? (Darcy ~ Lemon Grove, CA)
A. They are prohibited from expressing an opinion anywhere
on campus except in the “free speech zones.”
This is an egregious infringement on the First Amendment and the state
government has no business funding the university with taxpayer money until the
policy is stopped. But then again, I’m
not allowed to express that opinion, am I?
The country is going to hell in a hand-basket and Obama is leading the
way.
Q. I absolutely hate these new fluorescent light bulbs that
we are being forced to buy to replace incandescents with. (Orpha ~ Concord, CA)
A. The Courts are ruling such laws to be
unconstitutional. Besides, a recent study
by Long Island’s Stonybrook University shows that such bulbs cause skin cancer
because phosphorous coatings wear off and dissolve early, allowing UVA and UVC
rays to escape. And one variety of “energy
saving” bulbs has mercury in them and require special disposal. But, the EPA is refusing to budge.
