The proposed Keystone XL Pipeline is once again on track for
bureaucratic review after TransCanada submitted a new route through Nebraska
designed to avoid environmentally sensitive areas. The new plan, which TransCanada submitted to
the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality on Wednesday, puts the
Keystone project back on the front burner, and totally against White House wishes.
COMMENTS:
This pipeline project still is dead on arrival. Don’t expect Obama to turn it down, however,
until after the November election.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Last year, the California Legislature passed a law
banning the open carry of handguns. Now,
they’re going after long guns as well.
How does that add up? (Swede ~
Bishop, CA)
A. How are you going to go hunting without open-carrying a
rifle? This is another thinly disguised
attempt to take away the 2nd Amendment. The plain fact is, none of these stupid laws
has saved one life… not one.
Q. I’m a college student, studying law. My grandfather, father and sister got their
law degrees and went into politics. They
are all expecting me to do the same.
But, I can’t spin and lie like politicians do. I want to be a specialist in Native American
Law and help Indian tribes. What do you
think? (Preston ~ Stanford, CA)
A. Well, politicians are liars, that’s for sure; particularly
in 2012. Any practice of law inevitably
leads to stretching of the truth to some degree. I think your choice is admirable and far less
deceitful than politics. Follow your
instincts and don’t fall into the trap of spending your life doing something
you don’t really like.
Q. Harry Reid says that the Republicans under Bush told
government agencies not to hold meetings in Vegas. But, wasn’t it Obama who told everyone to
stay out of Vegas? (Baker ~ Victorville,
CA)
A. You have a good memory.
Here we are again, with “those guys” trying to change history.
