CHINA CONFRONTS PHILIPINES

China has sent its most powerful fishing patrol vessel to protect ten Chinese boats that were fishing in a disputed area near the Philippines and to escort them safely home and prevent arrests.   This display of force, along with China’s rejection of Philippine calls for international arbitration, underscores China’s willingness to flex its military might in the region in order to lay claim to huge energy reserves.

COMMENTS:
Why should we care?  The Philippines may be a U.S. possession, but they’re expendable.  If you remember correctly, a couple of years ago they were besieged by earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and pestilence and Obama refused to even acknowledge their plight.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. In recent days, I’ve been bombarded with negative news about the economy, including yours.  What do you suggest I do with my money?  (Gregory ~ Sparks, NV)
A. Send it to me.  Okay, you’re not going for that.. Put it into something tangible. I think raw real estate is okay, as are precious metals in the long run and some commodities in the short run.  Food products will rise in value over the next six to twelve months. Stay out of the stock market.

Q. I see that Obama is going to put into effect a program where you can work and still collect unemployment benefits.  Under the plan, workers who have lost jobs can be placed in other temporary jobs as trainees for short periods to retain their skills or gain new ones while receiving jobless assistance. What’s your opinion?  (Helen ~ Reno, NV)
A. I’m in favor of getting people back to work, but this is outrageous.  It’s Obama’s fault that people are out of work in the first place.  Instead of total spending programs like this one, why isn’t he allowing businesses to create jobs that will put people back to work and get them off of the government dole?  The guy is a total Marxist; that’s where this idea came from.

Q. The GSA debacle was a double whammy.  Not only was this misspending done with government funds, but those dollars were stimulus dollars intended to create jobs. The whole Obama Administration is rife with corruption.  How do we stop this bull?  (Gaylord ~ Salt Lake City, UT)
A. Vote Obama out in November.  Vote every incumbent with more than two years on the job out in November. Regardless of political affiliation, show no mercy.

TODAY’S QUOTE:
“There's Hezbollah, there's Hamas, there is a whole range of terrorist targets out there related to Palestine and to Israel that we ought to be trying to deal with. And there's a great deal of targets in the Philippines, Indonesia. You name it, there are a number of places where there are targets that we ought to be trying to deal with.” ~ Lawrence Eagleburger
