UNHAPPY SAILING

Two cruise liners operated by Princess Cruises off the Florida coast have been hit by a fast spreading norovirus.  Aboard the Crown Princess, 158 passengers and crew were affected; 90 are affected aboard the Ruby Princess.  Future cruises on both ships are in limbo until the company can thoroughly disinfect the ships.

COMMENTS:
The sailing public doesn’t know what to do; it seems they feel like they will either have to sink or swim and they’re too sick to swim.  But, people have been sailing the seas since before Christ, so I have a feeling they’ll continue to do so.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I was told that ObamaCare is robbing Medicare.  Is that true?  (Karla ~ Hurricane, UT)
A. According to Obama’s own DHHS sources, he will plunder the fund for $587.5 billion in this decade alone. Oh, and by the way: His plan says that ObamaCare bureaucrats will decide what care you can have and can’t have and neither you or Congress has a say about it.

Q. Russia and China both vetoed the U.N. resolution condemning Syria’s murderous crackdown.  How can we deal with this situation?  (Ivan ~ Lincoln, NE)
A. The U.S. is making a lot of noise, like “How could they do that?”  Yet, no student of international affairs could have expected a different result.  As for us sticking our nose into Syria’s internal affairs, sad as the situation may be, we have no legal basis to do so.

Q. I saw the other day that the House voted to freeze government pay.  I thought it was already frozen.  (Polly ~ Dunsmuir, CA)
A. No.  Obama froze executive branch pay a couple of years ago, but the freeze only applied to Cost of Living Adjustments, (COLA), and did not affect normal annual raise increases.  So, government employees have been increasingly getting better off while the rest of the nation has been suffering from high unemployment and decreasing pay.

TODAY’S QUOTE:
“What can we gain by sailing to the moon if we are not able to cross the abyss that separates us from ourselves? This is the most important of all voyages of discovery, and without it, all the rest are not only useless, but disastrous.” ~ Thomas Merton
