OBAMA MEETS WITH GOP

Well, the Republicans invited the President for tea and crumpets in Baltimore yesterday, and the President showed up. The subject for discussion was trying to find some middle ground where they could make progress in Washington. Of course, unable to resist the temptation, Obama chastised Republican lawmakers Friday for opposing him on taxes, health care and the economic stimulus; in return, the GOP accused him of brushing off their ideas and driving up the national debt. The exchange demonstrated that Obama and the Republicans are far apart on key issues.

COMMENTS:
Unlike the Democrats and in the interest of transparency, the Republicans agreed to let TV cameras into the room. All in all, it seems to me that Obama was there for the sole purpose of talking down to the Republicans and scolding them for standing up as Americans instead of caving in to his demands. Obama said, "So just a tone of civility instead of slash-and-burn would be helpful." That’s like the pot calling the kettle black.
