MAJOR COMPANIES FED UP WITH CONGRESS

Many major American companies are fed up with calls from Congressional campaign officials asking for political contributions and fear that the situation will only get worse as a result of the Supreme Court ruling that corporations and unions can spend unlimited money on ads urging people to vote for or against candidates. The companies are evidently sick and tired of the aggressive arm-twisting tactics. Roughly 40 executives from companies including Playboy Enterprises, ice cream maker Ben & Jerry's, the Seagram's liquor company, toymaker Hasbro, Delta Airlines and Men's Wearhouse sent a letter to congressional leaders Friday asking them to approve public financing for House and Senate campaigns. It appears that, it many cases, Members of Congress themselves are making the solicitation calls.

COMMENTS:
These tactics are aggressive strongarm tactics that result from an atmosphere of graft, corruption and bribery. You cannot legislate ethics; either the Congressional representative is ethical, or they are not. The answer is to remove them all. 500 or so more unemployed people won’t change the figures anyway, and if we don’t vote them out, Obama will claim that he saved 500 jobs.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Isn’t the 10% unemployment figure due for a change soon? (Manny ~ Atascadero, CA)
A. Yes. 43% of the states report an increase in unemployment. I believe the 10% figure was manipulated last month. As Obama says, let’s not quibble over numbers?

Q. A year ago, I heard that we were scrubbing the terrorist threat color code. What’s going on now? (Blanche ~ Los Angeles, CA)
A. Britain just elevated its threat level. Why? We don’t know, and that issue doesn’t seem to be very high on our Administration’s list of priorities.

Q. Do you think that Obama or the Congress understands the real implications of Brown’s win in Massachusetts?
A. No. They are still thinking that it is they who run the country, not us.
