Yesterday was the day Eric Holder was to meet with Darrell
Issa, chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and
to produce documents sought by the committee with respect to the Fast &
Furious gun-running scandal. The meeting
was set up at Holder’s request to circumvent probably contempt proceedings, but
Holder failed to deliver. He refused to deliver any documents and said he would agree to drop the matter if the Committee also agreed to drop the matter. Today is the current deadline for the committee’s contempt
vote. Issa has indicated he may delay
the vote.
COMMENTS:
Issa may appear to be a bulldog in the quest, but he is
showing himself to be just like all of the other Republicans we have in
Congress… all bark and no bite. There should be no delay, no hesitation in
going after the evidence. This is how Bush got us into the
embarrassing Iraq invasion; he waited and waited and waited and finally, by the
time we got there, all of the evidence was gone.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Are the insurance companies backing ObamaCare? (Sully ~
Compton, CA)
A. AARP and United Health surely are. But, companies run by Americans who believe
in our democracy are now lining up against the plan. In a Wall Street Journal Op-Ed, Ron Williams,
who served as both chairman and CEO of Aetna, said the ObamaCare plan is not
workable and that insurance would rapidly become unaffordable. It’s a really crappy piece of
legislation. Yes, we need to reform
healthcare; ObamaCare is not the answer.
Q. One of T.V.’s all-time favorite personalities, Sam
Donaldson, is now claiming the right hates Obama because he is black. Your response? (Sherie ~ Baker, CA)
A. Donaldson said, “Let’s face it: Many on the political
right believe this president ought not to be there — they oppose him not for
his polices and political view but for who he is, an African American!” I personally do not care what color or
religion the guy is, his policies and political view suck. And, thank you Sam for confirming your reverse racial prejudice to the rest of
us.
Q. Rubio is really coming out and gloating over the
prospects of being the Republican Vice Presidential nominee. What do you think
of him? (Kim ~ San Francisco, CA)
A. I guess he can’t stand the job he has? Anyone who comes out and lobbies for a job,
where others present themselves only on the basis of their qualifications,
tells me that he is just like every other lame politician we have in
office. Forget his looks and suave personality;
if that’s all you want in a high-office candidate, vote for Obama in November. As for me, I want substance.
