The essence of his remarks during the State of the Union
Address were that the government needs to do more to level the playing field
between the rich and the poor and that we should have equal incomes.
COMMENTS:
If I wanted my income to be the same as my neighbor’s,
wouldn’t I be living in a Communist society?
As Reagan so eloquently said: government is not the solution, government
is the problem. Our government is in
serious need of a major overhaul, and all of the Marxist rhetoric from the White
House is not helping the situation one iota.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. The Republican hierarchy had been seriously maneuvering
to get Romney the nomination. What is
their reaction to Gingrich’s convincing win in South Carolina? (Maurice ~ Wendover, UT)
A. They’re beside themselves with anger. They’re pulling out all of the stops trying
to paint Gingrich as a bad guy. Gingrich
has responded by releasing his contracts with Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae and he
didn’t fumble the subject like Romney did over his income taxes. Gingrich has said he wants all of the cards
on the table so they can debate the real issues, which may work further to
Romney’s disadvantage. Wait until they
find out that Romney was once a used car salesman.
Q. Iran has rattled its saber again by threatening European
Union nations who voted to quit buying Iranian oil as a sanction against his
nuclear program. Ahmadinejad is
threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz and doesn’t seem to mind that we now
have an aircraft carrier there. Is he
full of hot air, or might he do something precipitous? (Barney ~ Walla Walla, WA)
A. Desperate terrorists do desperate things. No one who is following Iran’s actions these
days is ruling out an Iranian military action.
But, don’t forget that Obama wants to talk about things over a cool beer
in the Rose Garden.
Q. Is this the week that Obama’s Court hearing comes up
regarding Georgia’s demands that he show his birth certificate? (Cassandra ~ Coronado Del Mar, CA)
A. Yes. The word is
that his team will argue that only the United States can demand his birth
certificate and that states have no right to ask for it. As you know, Holder has refused to ask for
it. It is this argument that Courts so
far have ruled invalid. I wouldn’t be
surprised if he and his team simply don’t show up. That would put the whole case on the
sidelines while they try to prosecute a contempt charge against him, thereby
almost certainly pushing the issue past the November elections.
