Iran’s leader is warning nearby Middle East countries not to
join sanctions against Iran. Further, according
to recent statements, if they raise oil output to make up for sanctions against
Iranian oil, they will face “dire consequences.” To make matters stickier, China and Russia are evidently
backing Iran.
COMMENTS:
I keep saying that we should not think that Iran is all
mouth and no rear-end. I would not put
it past them to take some military action; they think differently than we do. They are martyrs and we tend not to understand
that they don’t care about retribution from us or anyone else if they nuke
Israel. They are prepared to have their
virgins and be done with it.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What do you make of the Republican hierarchy cry for two
of the remaining candidates to drop out do that Romney can have a “clear
victory” going into the convention? (Vic
~ Santa Clara, CA)
A. Actually, that’s not a bad idea because, if two drop out,
their votes will gravitate not to Romney but to one of the remaining candidates
and then, maybe, a challenger to Romney shall emerge. But, don’t look for any action in that
direction before the South Carolina primaries.
Q. Obama is said to be privately warning Israel not to do a
pre-emptive strike against Iran. How do
you expect Israel to react to that? (Offie
~ Menlo Park, CA)
A. I don’t think they will give it a second of thought. If you are expecting that an enemy will nuke
you at any moment and you have an opportunity to strike first and eliminate
your danger, what are you going to do?
Q. How are energy prices holding up this winter? (Kevin ~ Morgan Hill, CA)
A. Natural gas prices are down. The country is flush with natural gas as a
result of new drilling techniques that have enabled energy companies to tap
vast supplies that were out of reach not so long ago. Also, it is a political year and natural gas
is in abundance.
