Fox News has been reporting, and various Senators have confirmed, that President Obama is planning to issue an Executive Order to grant illegal aliens amnesty. Obama has ordered White House Aides to examine the legal ramifications of such a move. The Senate, reacting to this news, challenged the White House to explain its actions and the White House has denied the rumors. The concern is that DHS, in a bid to bypass Congress, would extend what is known as deferred action or parole -- actions usually taken on a case-by-case basis -- to millions of illegal immigrants at once.

PETRAEUS TAKES OVER...ALMOST
General David Petraeus was names as the new man in charge of the war in Afghanistan yesterday by President Obama to take over from General McChrystal. Petraeus must be confirmed by Congress.
A. I’ve not been pushing for the Republicans because I think their National Committee is in a shambles and they don't have a clear, positive message. I had hopes they would pull their act together and they may yet, but I’m not holding my breath. Their continued requests for donations go straight from my mailbox to my trash bin. On the other hand, I’m not overly enthralled with the Dems, either. I do see that they are losing a lot of incumbents, and that’s good. We have another couple of weeks of primaries to go after which, I’m still inclined to say… look at the candidates remaining and pick the one with the least experience in politics and who hasn’t ever been in Washington. If that doesn’t make up your mind, THEN choose the Republican.

OBAMA HOUSING PROGRAM IN CRISIS MODE
More than a third of the 1.24 million borrowers who have enrolled in the $75 billion mortgage modification program have dropped out. That number exceeds the number of people who managed to have their loan payments reduced to help them keep their homes. 436,000 have dropped out because the Obama administration initially pressured banks to sign up borrowers without insisting first on proof of their income; when banks later moved to collect the information; many troubled homeowners were disqualified or dropped out. Many borrowers complained that the banks had lost their documents while the industry said borrowers weren't sending back the necessary paperwork.

The immigration battle is off to a rough start with Holder filing suit against the state of Arizona for trying to deal with a horrendous immigration and crime problem; legal scholars are weighing in against the lawsuit and the populace is lining up against the Administration’s less-than-adequate handling of the overall problem. Obama is obviously miffed that Governor Brewer had the impudent audacity to put his feet to the fire over the issue. The word is out that the government has bailed out Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac to the tune of $389 billion and that they have repossessed and now own about 500,000 houses; the math? That works out to about $778,000 per house. Now comes the admission that up to 100,000 barrels of oil are leaking in the gulf per day and Obama has yet to even consider accepting help from foreign countries. Every day that goes by, the figures seem to increase. The number of deaths in Iraq is surging; Ahmadinejad has announced he’s going to build more nuclear plants and has denied IAEA inspectors admission to Iran. Unemployment claims went up and the economic news is not getting better, no matter what Joe says.

OBAMA CAUGHT IN CROW-EATING HEALTH CARE VISE
President Barack Hussein Obama has taken to the air waves to blame the Republicans for a looming Medicare crisis. The problem is that medical payments to physicians and other providers are scheduled to take a big cut according to a formula devised years ago. Prior scheduled cuts have not been enforced by either Republicans or Democrats and the medical industry has been continuing to get paid their full amount. Now, the Republicans are unwilling to prevent the scheduled 21% cut this year and Obama is having a snit fit. But, there’s more to the story.
A. Their last elections were somewhat indecisive. What you really need to understand is that the various factions in Iraq have been fighting each other since time immemorial. Hussein was able to control the problem with his iron-fisted dictatorship which would not put up with any bull. The U.S. chose to occupy Iraq after it went in to topple Hussein and that, frankly, was a mistake; it put us into a no win situation. In my opinion, we should have stayed only long enough for Iraq to establish a new government and we should then have withdrawn and let the chips fall where they may. That part of the world has never known peace; they live by the sword and they die by the sword and no American, including the messiah, will ever change that fact.
Q. What’s this new tactic about Van der Sloot being mentally ill? (Kerry ~ San Jose, CA)
A. What is coming out, I think, is that his mother at least, and maybe his father when he was alive, let this scum do whatever he wanted. Whenever he got into trouble, they pulled strings and bailed him out of it. Now, the mother is doing everything she can to get this psychopath off again. I am inclined to think that, in some ways, she’s just as guilty for these deaths as he is and that she's the real down-to-earth nut case.

A. I do not know that he does, or does not smoke marijuana in the White House. He’s admitted to smoking pot in the past and is certainly arrogant enough to do so and, if he does, RHIP. And, in order to get the AMA to back his plan, he made a back-room guarantee to them that the scheduled cuts would not take place. Moody’s is the firm most widely used for measuring the credit risk involved with investments in corporations and governmental organizations all over the world. They have been cautioning the United States that, if we take on more debt, they will have to lower our risk rating, which means that investors in our economy will either stop investing or will want a higher interest rate to cover the risk. Congressman Barney Frank’s answer to that is to force Moodys out of business.
A. From the U.S. Constitution, and they are very limited. Obama has been violating it every day; we seem to be letting him. Sometimes, I get discouraged and start to think that maybe this country really wants a dictatorship. And then, I see our flag and I know that we cannot let it happen.

HEALTH CARE PLAN REVISION?
Utah Senator Orin Hatch has filed two new bills to gut the major contents of Obama’s new health care plan. One would eliminate the mandatory buy-in and the other would eliminate the requirement for employers with over 50 employees to provide insurance for their employees.
A. No. He’s being moved to another position. They had to have at least the appearance that someone in the company was getting disciplined. He did what he was supposed to on the hot seat before Congress, which was to play cat and mouse.
Q. With the vast majority of Americans backing Arizona and its immigration law, why is Eric Holder taking them to Court? (Keith ~ Red Bluff, CA)
A. For two reasons: (1) vindictive Obama is not about to allow any tinhorn cowgirl to tell him when he’s wrong and (2) the subject of immigration to the United States is primarily a federal matter and the states have essentially no legal right to intervene. However, I do believe that Arizona has a strong defense in that the feds have not properly enforced the laws, to the detriment of Arizona. The smart move now would be for Arizona to file for a Writ of Mandamus in Federal Court to force the feds to do their jobs.
Q. How does unemployment in California compare with the rest of the nation? How about Shasta County? (Meredith ~ Redding, CA)
A. It is easing a tad. But, the national unemployment is at 9.7% and California is at 12.4%. Shasta County is at 15.4%, down from 17.6% in January. Be glad you don’t live in Imperial County where it’s 27.5%. The best place in the country is probably in South Dakota.

I don’t care what kind of band aid you try to put on it; it’s still the worst piece of legislation to be passed by Congress in my memory. There’s still the problem of medical malpractice insurance, soaring costs of drugs, and $1 trillion added to the national debt. It seems to me that the above two bills would correct two major flaws with the existing bill, but would also add to the $1 trillion tab. While tap dancer Tony Hayward was befuddling Congress on the Hill over BP’s leaking well, Joe Biden was busy putting his own foot in his mouth…again. Just a day after the news came that first-time unemployment claims took a startling jump last week while retail sales are down, and hot on the heels of the Administration’s attempt to get another $80 billion or so of stimulus money, jovial Joe Biden announced to the world that their stimulus planning has been an “absolute success.”

It is no secret that the United States is acquiring national debt at an unprecedented rate and that it is serious danger, like Greece, Spain, and Portugal have been for months. Now, the head of the European Commission is warning that democracy could end in those countries unless their debt crisis is controlled. Greece has been hit by a series of national strikes and riots this year following the announcement of drastic cuts to public spending.
A. BP is going to put up $20 billion? I doubt it. But, if they do, will it end up going poof in the air like $380 billion of TARP money? As far as getting anything done on the mess, keep your eyes on the money. I’ll guarantee you that the money will disappear a whole lot faster than the oil mess.

HEALTH INSURANCE COSTS SKY ROCKET; FIRMS REACT
Companies which provide employees with health care benefits have received a “sticker shock” from their companies; as a result of the new Health Care Plan, their premiums for 2011 are taking a steep rise. As a result, deductibles for employees are going up from $200 to $400 or more and employees must pay a larger share of the premiums. And the actual effect of the new plan are just beginning to be felt, with much larger impacts coming in future years.

In Burney, American Legion Post 441 has concluded a two day event that included a rummage sale, bake sale, car wash and breakfast. The money raised will be used for college scholarships for graduating Burney High School students.
A. Where in the United States Constitution does it say that you have to be mentally fit to be a Senator? My God, if it said that anywhere, we would not have had a Senate for at least 40 years.

Nathan Tabor was shooting video at a Tea Party protest in Greensboro, NC when Govenor Spencer shoved him, then shoved his wife and, when told to stop it, hauled off and punched Tabor firmly in the right side of his face. Spencer had just arrived and had been shouting anti-Bush epithets when he attacked Tabor.
A. If Obama and his cohorts hadn’t pissed away trillions of dollars in crappy legislation, I think we might be able to help these people on a temporary basis. The repeated televised reports showing the President talking about discussing the Gulf oil crisis with scientists and other knowledgeable people is correct, but the subsequent report to the people was not, according to admissions before a House Committee this week. The report was signed and delivered and subsequently changed by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to suggest that it supported an immediate suspension of Gulf oil drilling. "The experts who are involved in crafting the report gave us their recommendation and their input and I very much appreciate those recommendations," he said. "It was not their decision on the moratorium. It was my decision and the president's decision to move forward."

The administration is trumpeting the fact that new unemployment claims fell by 3,000 last week.
A. It’s not years, it’s decades. We have not the slightest idea what this permeation of oil into sea water at varying levels of the ocean is going to do to the water and marine life. We don’t know what the weather ramifications will be. We DO need to be opening new land-based fields and shallow water fields as rapidly as possible and suspending deep water operations in the Gulf until we get a better grip as to what is going on. Whatever you do, don’t even think about walking by the President and saying, “How are you doing there, Slick?”

A. Pelosi got 52,957 votes in the primary. Her Republican opponent will be John Dennis, who got 4,900 votes. Please pass the gray poop on.

Q. I almost laughed when I saw on TV over the weekend that many BP/ARCO dealers are covering up the “BP” on their signs because sales are down. Why don’t they just change brands? (Carlisle ~ Redondo Beach, CA)A. Most dealers have franchise contracts that prevent them from simply changing brands. They should have checked into BP’s putrid reputation before signing on the dotted line.

A. She retired. As anti-Palestine, anti-Hamas and pro Israel as I am, I was hoping she would keep her job. This is a country with freedom of speech, remember? If you can shut down speech that is offensive or has no social merit, Obama wouldn’t be able to monopolize the airwaves the way he does.
