Oil prices jumped $2 per barrel yesterday as Russian troops ventured further into Crimea. The possibility exists that the European Union and/or the United Nations will issue economic sanctions against Russia, freezing some or all of its assets and stopping its oil and natural gas exports. Russia was the world's second-largest producer of oil in 2012, accounting for 12.6 percent of global supplies, according to the International Energy Agency. It was also the world's top exporter of natural gas in that year, so any economic sanctions taken against Moscow would limit world supply and push up prices.
COMMENTS:
Obama and Kerry were running around Washington and overseas
like chickens with their proverbial heads chopped off, trying to develop some
consensus of support for some sort of retaliation against Russia. The odds of their success are somewhat the
same as their prospects of stopping the use of chemical weapons by Assad and
the development of nuclear weapons by Iran.
What a fine kettle of stew we brewed when we allowed Obama to be
elected, let alone to have a second term; OUR chickens are coming home to roost.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What did you think of the Oscars? (Kent ~ Pasco, WA)
A. I can’t believe they actually allowed someone to stand up
and praise God on national television. The
left-wing atheists must be out of their gourds with angst.
Q. Do you think Lois Lerner will implicate the White House regarding
the IRS scandal in her Congressional appearance tomorrow? (Gail ~ Chico, CA)
A. Not unless someone asks her the question; so far in any Congressional
hearing, No one has asked the tough questions.
They seem to suffer from Obama-itis: all mouth and no... action.
Q. Mark Levin is asking the Tea Parties to “fight tyranny in
the United States?” Is he calling for a
revolution? (Pat ~ Havre, MT)
A. Levin
says our government which is supposed to serve the people is “devouring” us,
while the Constitution’s firewalls are being breached by a “lawless president, a feckless Congress, and an
all-powerful Supreme Court.” I fully
agree with him. Regardless of unconscionable attacks by the Democrats and the Good Old Boy Republicans, the
Tea Parties are doing everything they can to get our runaway government back on
its proper Constitutional track. As for
revolution, Levin is not advocating for that, but I think he would rather have
a revolution than to allow our country to crumble from within.
TODAY’S QUOTE:
“What the Founding Fathers
created in the Constitution is the most magnificent government on the face of
the Earth, and the reason is this: because it was intended to preserve the
American society and the American spirit, not to transform it or destroy it.” ~
Mark R. Levin
