The Senate is undertaking a study on tax reform, but has vowed to keep the study and its results top secret for the next 50 years.
COMMENTS:
That’s the first question: does that mean that they are not
going to institute any tax changes for at least 50 years? Frankly, I can’t imagine any Senator keeping his mouth shut about anything for 50 years. If
they’re serious about all of this, why announce that they are doing a secret
study?
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Sarah Palin is saying that the Republican Party would not
let her go after Obama’s past associates or his lack of job knowledge; Jeremiah
Wright and Bill Ayers were “off limits.”
What do you make of that? (Adam ~
Fullerton, CA)
A. I think everyone would agree that McCain’s campaign was
too clean. It’s almost as if it was
contrived that way on purpose, as if some deal had been made in a back room
someplace to let Obama win.
Q. Here we go again with the new Secretary of the Treasury saying
we have to approve a new debt ceiling immediately because nations are starting
to wonder if we are going to pay our bills.
That line is getting a little old.
(Tamara ~ Santa Rosa, CA)
A. I wish the day would come when the taxpayers of this country
would simply band together and refuse to pay any more taxes until Congress
enacts new tax laws and deals objectively with the national debt. We are a gutless nation; no wonder our
government is running all over us.
Q. I hear that various mayors are leaving Bloomberg’s Mayor’s
Against Illegal Guns group. What’s up
with that? (Reggie ~ Ogden, UT)
A. They say that Bloomberg and other leaders have used the
group to attack pro-gun candidates and to push for total all-out gun control,
objectives with which they disagree.
TODAY’S QUOTE:
“Mr. Obama denounced the $2.3 trillion added to the national
debt on Mr. Bush's watch as 'deficits as far as the eye can see.' But Mr.
Obama's budget adds $9.3 trillion to the debt over the next 10 years. What
happened to Obama the deficit hawk?” ~ Karl Rove
