Helicopters from the U.S. Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment shook Port Angeles, Washington residents awake last week as they thundered above the city, flying low and shining bright lights on the ground during an early morning training exercise that terrorized the city. The exercise, during which MH-60 Blackhawk and CH-47 Chinook helicopters flew over the city with their landing lights on at an altitude of 750 feet, prompted frightened residents to call emergency dispatchers to ask what was going on. But dispatchers had no answers because the Army had not notified anyone in advance of the exercise. Since January, military helicopters have flown “training” missions over Houston, Miami and Chicago. In each case, frightened citizens swamped emergency dispatchers with calls to learn if they were being attacked.

TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. What is the difference between self-defense and
stand-your-ground, or is there a difference?
(Lydia ~ Nevada City, CA)
A. If I recall correctly, self-defense has predominantly
said that you do have the right to defend yourself, but also that you have a
duty not to defend yourself if you can escape the situation. Of course, this gave rise to the problem of
prosecutors claiming the killer could have escaped the situation and because he
didn’t, he was guilty of murder or manslaughter. This led to a whole lot of litigation, and it
was resolved by enacting stand-your-ground laws that carry self-defense one
step further by stipulating that if you are in fear for your life, you can
defend yourself and you don’t have to try and escape. The criminals and the left-wingers, of
course, want stand-your-ground to be abolished, virtually shifting the burden
of proof from the prosecution to the defendant.
Q. What do you think of the Detroit Bankruptcy? (Celeste ~ Rapid City, SD)
A. I don’t understand it.
How can it be? The economy is
cooking right along, remember?
Unemployment is down, housing is up, ObamaCare is curing all that ails
us… hell, there’s even talk that the Fed is going to quit printing money sometime
next year. Why should Detroit be filing
bankruptcy? With gas prices set to go up
by another dollar before summer’s end, our economy is again in imminent danger
of folding like an accordion.
Q. I understand the Obama Administration went after
Christine O’Donnell when she decided to run for Congress in the primary against
Delaware Republican Michael Castle. What
did they do? (Larry ~ Albuquerque, NM)
A. They accessed her tax files and leaked news that the IRS
had placed a lien on her house, (which she no longer owned.) The IRS eventually blamed the lien on a
computer glitch and withdrew it. Though O'Donnell has spent six months trying
to uncover what happened, investigators told her the probe has been closed, and
attempts to get information about her case through Freedom of Information Act
requests have been delayed or denied. Obviously,
government corruption continues.
