Iran and Russia have come out with a joint statement in
response to our recent attack on a Syrian air base: “What America waged in an
aggression on Syria is a crossing of red lines. From now on, we will respond
with force to any aggressor or any breach of red lines from whoever it is, and
America knows our ability to respond well.”
COMMENTS:
Somehow, I suspect that their red line is not drawn in the
sand like Obama’s was. However, the fact
that Rex Tillerson is stilling heading to Moscow to have talks, that he has not
been disinvited, leads me to believe that these statements are meant more to
rattle their sabers and save face than anything else. If they were deadly serious, the red paint
would be luminous and Tillerson would be cooling his heels at the airport.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Oregon is considering repealing its law against gun duels
between public officials. Have they gone
nuts? (Myrtle ~ El Segundo, CA)
A. I think it’s a good idea.
That’s one way to trim the budget while taking out the trash at the same
time. It’s like killing two old birds
with one law, pardon the play on words.
Q. How deep do you think Trump’s new budget cuts will
be? Are we going to lose some essential
services? (Francis ~ San Francisco, CA)
A. Not unless you consider the taxpayer funding of abortions to be an essential service. Everyone knows our government agencies are all wasting
billions… perhaps trillions… of taxpayer dollars. Cutting the budgets will force the agencies
to trim the fat and to start exercising good money management practices. I don’t
look for services to be cut, but I do expect that many costly regulations will
go by the wayside and that many worthless or lazy bureaucrats will soon be on
the outside looking in.
Q. Do you think Assad will ever leave Syria? (Lea ~ Barstow, CA)
A. Not unless he’s in a casket.
