In a lengthy diatribe issued Saturday, I.S.I.S. said it is
“getting closer to Israel.”
COMMENTS:
I don’t know why we’re concerned about Israel’s safety. I mean, after all, I.S.I.S. is just a “J.V.
team.” The fact is that I.S.I.S.
despises both Israel and the U.S. and it wants to draw us into a ground
conflict; what better way to accomplish that than to attack Israel? On the other hand, do we really think that
Obama gives a hoot about Israel?
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. Do I understand that gays are now allowed to donate
blood? (Roger ~ Pismo Beach, CA)
A. The issue has always been about the ability for gay men
to transmit the AIDS virus to each other through their sexual activities; once
in the bloodstream, the virus could then easily be transmitted into the general
population through blood donations. The
U.S. Food and Drug Administration last week announced the change: instead of a
lifetime ban on donating blood, the policy in place for about 30 years, these
men will be barred from giving blood for 12 months after their last sexual
contact with another man. I would therefore presume that the associated danger
expires at midnight on the 30th day of the 11th month
following sexual activity. Figure that
one out.
Q. Why are the NRA and gun owners so dead-set against “smart-gun”
technology for handguns? (Millie ~
Helena, MT)
A. Because smart guns are not smart; they’re dumb. Handguns are essentially made for
self-defense. Smart gun technology
requires the user to wear a wrist watch type of contraption that communicates with
the hand gun to say, “Let this guy shoot, he’s legit.” If you’re incapacitated, your boyfriend or
husband can’t pick up your gun to defend you.
If the battery goes dead in either the “watch” or the gun or if the
signal doesn’t work, you’re dead. And if
you’re going to go to bed at night with the handgun on your nightstand, it’s
useless unless you go to bed with the heavy and cumbersome wrist attachment on
you. In other words, it renders your
self-defense to be very unreliable.
Q. What’s all of the ruckus about Sam’s Club? (Dale ~ Willard, UT)
A. Their CEO doesn’t seem to want to do business with
suppliers that have all white or all male management. Rosalind Brewer has openly said she prefers
to hire black women. The color of
people’s skin and their sexual orientation are more important than what they
give to the company, in her eyes anyways. There's been a call for a boycott of the chain.
