The Republican-controlled House of Representatives has voted
to lift the 40-year-old ban on exporting U.S. oil, saying that the ban hurts
the economy and U.S. business.
COMMENTS:
That is dumb and shows once again that the Republicans are
corrupt and un-American… almost as bad as the Democrats. We’ve been “over the barrel,” so to speak, regarding
our oil uses for decades. We are still
importing oil to meet domestic needs. There
is now the probability of being able to meet domestic needs through oil
obtained by off-shore drilling and fracking.
We need to be conserving whatever oil stocks we have to reduce our
dependence on other countries. It’s
apparent to me that the big corporate money is firmly in charge of the thinking
in the halls of Congress.
TODAY’S QUERIES & ANSWERS:
Q. I understand now that the Iranian deal might violate
established U.S. law. So, what happens
next? (Gigi ~ West Hills, CA)
A. Since when has the Congress ever made Obama or anyone in his
administration abide by U.S. law?
Q. Why doesn’t Obama follow your advice and form a
commission to examine the underlying causes of violence of all kinds in our
society? (Lu ~ Los Alamos, NM)
A. Because he’s after our guns; that’s his primary
focus. If he has a commission, he won’t
want to hear what they have to say, because they’ll be talking about improving
family life, reducing social stresses, psychological counseling and so forth…
not confiscating guns. He knows what the real answer is and it
doesn’t fit his agenda.
Q. I’m really ticked off to hear that Wichita State
University ripped all of the pews out of its chapel and removed the altar so as
to make room for Muslim Prayer Rugs.
They said they wanted to make the chapel “faith neutral.” (Swede ~ Minnetonka, MN)
A. I don’t have any problem with the decision. The chapel is on university grounds; the
bequest establishing the chapel explicitly said it needs to be open to members
of all faiths. They provide portable
chairs for regular church services and their altar is on wheels. What needs to happen here is for adequate
transportation to be provided to students of all faiths to local churches,
synagogues, seminaries, mosques and other places of worship. In saying this, I am in no way supporting or ascribing
to Islam in away.
